“Lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2011

We were traveling in a group of 3 so we were given an en-suite room on the top floor with an extra z-bed. Very nice and clean room with lovely view of the sea, extremely spacious even for 3 of us, and the bathroom was huge as well. Location was fantastic, just a short walk from the main street. Staff were very pleasant and breakfast was good. Wifi was available for free. Only thing was they have expanded but could only barely manage to cater for this many guests - parking spaces were barely sufficient and there weren't enough tables in the dining room so guests would have to wait their turn to have breakfast. Also the turning into the carpark at the back could have been made more obvious - took us a while to figure out where their carpark was! Apart from that, we enojyed our stay very much and would definitely stay there again if we ever go back there!

Lovely place to stay. We were lucky enough to get a great view of the loch from our room. The bedroom and bathroom were a great size and bathroom was very modern and stylish. Think the house is at the nicest side if Fort William and just a short walk to the centre. Very friendly owner.

My husband and parents and I have stayed at Myrtle Bank for the past two years in June and both times found the place to be a fantastic location. We stayed in different rooms this year to last and everything was of the same high standard with en suite shower rooms to each of the rooms.

This year we were in a twin room at the front of the house and the view across the Loch was superb.

The owner was lovely, very helpful with our requests and the food at breakfast was brilliant.

I would always book to stay at Myrtle Bank when in Fort William, it is the right mix of close to everything but still peaceful.

I stayed here with some friends whilst cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End. We found it to be wonderfully presented, very comfortable , very clean, with a scrummy breakfast! Everything we needed to get back on our saddles for another day of cycling - thank you!

Thsi is a convenienly located clean and well run B & B with lovely breakfasts BUT they do not accept crdeit cards. This is not stated on the web site or in their confirmation emails. I don't know why they would coose to conduct business in this way but that is their perogative but at least make it known before you get there. We had a heck of a time getting more cash from an ATM with our Canadian Bank card. When I pointed ou that it should be on their website and emails I was sarcastically told that she would go right now and add it to thed email she sent us.

Maybe because I have stayed in 3 different Guest Houses on my travel in Scotland and I can compare, but... this really beautiful Guest House seemed more like a hotel than a Guest House to me. A good hotel though.

The Guest House's neighbourhood is spectacular, beautiful, my room was on the smaller side (see pic attached), with 140 cm wide bed, with spring mattress and because of it, we (my sister and me) couldn't sleep in it both: she slept on the floor (because she can and I can't).

The bathroom was beautiful, clean, a lot of hot water for shower, I liked it very much.
The breakfast was OK (at least comparing to our two other accomodations!) enough, however they didn't provide haggis for breakfast, or black pudding. Only sausages, scrambled eggs and bacon - however they tastes fine.

All in all, it was a little bit big for a Guest house (we stayed not in the main building, but in the smaller one in the neighbour), the hosts are kind, nice, the service was good. Maybe because we was on our 3 days Highland tour and we was with a group (so they didn't have time for us to welcome etc.), or we have too good accomodation with our two other Guest Houses, but Myrtle seems more a hotel for me than a Guest House.

Room Tip: We stayed in CL4 in the other buliding - maybe this wasn't the best one - regarding to the bed...

Well Myrtle Bank is a guest house - so do not go there expected to be treated warmly like a B&B. Having said that, it is quite lovely in everything else - awesome rooms, amenities and a lovely view of the lake. It also has a huge garden area for relaxation.
The breakfast is good, but again you are not able to get anything customized for yourself as there are always 4-5 families to be taken care of.

It can be quite expensive in peak season, so please book early

Room Tip: Book early - atleast 4 weeks
