Leanne and I stayed here last weekend and we had such a lovely time. Our hosts were ever-so friendly and always had a nice hot brew waiting for us after our mountain walks in the heavy rain. Full of advice on where to visit in the area and where to head out for food, we couldn't have asked for nicer hosts.

Hi to you both, Thanks for writing your review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. It is good to be back in our home after the traumatic experience of the excessive water damage and re-furnbishment of the house. We hope you will come back and be able to walk Ben Nevis next time. Until then. Regards Glenys and Iain

Chose this B&B due the consistency of other traveller's comments plus, Glenshian House was an excellent base for our trip out to Corrour Station restaurant (see our review on this), being close to Banavie Train Station. Beautifully situated with Ben Nevis to the rear of the property plus, the added bonus of walking out to Neptune's Staircase and the Canal. Mrs Henshaw was very welcoming with a big pot of tea after our day trip. The room (Triple family room) was tip top with the usual tea/coffee making facilities and quality local products for the bathroom. There is a guest lounge/conservatory with a TV & spectacular views, not forgetting, all what's going on with the boats & Canal activity. We had a very restful nights sleep followed by a lovely Breakie.
Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Travel out to Corrour Station from Banavie station. A beautiful train ride, a lovely walk round Corrour Loch and great restaurant in the Station House. Make sure you book ahead.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Glenshian House and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone traveling in Scotland. If you enjoy birding, this is the place to see many birds in the extensive back-yard feeders and to get information on the best birding hot-spots in the area. The accommodations and breakfast were wonderful, and the proprietors are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! A must for anyone traveling in this area of Scotland - really made our stay special and memorable! Thank you!

We choose the Glenshian in part for the location, which is right on the Caledonian Canal, and a little bit outside of Fort William. As we had rented a car for our week in Scotland, we took the opportunity to stay somewhere that was a little off the beaten path. Directions were good, we had no problem finding the B&B as we drove down from Inverness.
The weather was not great the two days we stayed - we never did see Ben Nevis come out of the clouds. Glenys welcomed us with a cup of tea and shortbread in the conservatory on our arrival. We stayed in the Rose Room, which was well appointed with a comfortable double bed. We slept well, the quiet area meant we had a really good nights sleep. We did have a little problem with the shower our first morning as the hot water unit had not been turned on. There is a ceiling pull switch (looks like a light switch) that has to be pulled before the water will turn on. Otherwise, the water was nice and hot, the water pressure was OK.. Loved the heated towel bar!
Breakfast is chosen the night before, and is served at a communal table at whatever time you designate. We tried the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast the first day, with a cheese omlette the second day. Lots of toast, juice, coffee and tea available, and fresh fruit and yoghurt. It is really nice to sit in the sunny (!!!) conservatory, and look out at the lovely garden and watch the birds eating at the feeders that are located in several areas in the yard. There is a family of ducks that come every day to eat the seeds that fall on the ground.
We had dinner at The Moorings Restaurant (twice, it was that good), which is just a short walk along the canal from the B&B. We drove to Mallaig, and enjoyed stops at Glenfinnan and at Morar to enjoy the beaches.
A very friendly couple own this B&B, and their experience shows. Fort William is in a lovely area of Scotland, and I am so glad we stayed for two nights instead of one!

Glenys and Ian are the perfect hosts. Coffee and biscuits on arrival as always and a fantastic breakfast. Lost count of the number of times we've stayed at Glenshian now. The view is awesome! The rooms are very comfortable and the guests lounge and conservatory make this home from home.
