Located just at the end of Fort William itself overlooking the water. Well maintained and welcoming hosts make this a pleasant base for exploring locally. The steam train station is only ten minutes walk away through the town. Ample parking, large clean and tidy rooms with great views and a good breakfast served by friendly staff make this a recommnded stay from us.

but still close to everything in Fort Wiliam. Fort William is a small town, so I guess it´s peaceful and quiet almost everywhere.

If you arrive with bus or train, it takes about 10 - 15 minutes to walk here, take the pedestrian street High Street, and walk on to you pass the roundabout, then continue for 2-3 minutest. You will not miss it.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Good service and clean and comfy room.

Only thing on the negative side, was that I stayed in the annex building next to the main building, and the room was towards the back of the house so I had no view. Also the wifi connection was a littlebit unstabel at times.

Breakfast was nice, and you have several choices to choose from.

Would be glad to stay here again.

Looking for a nice hotel or guesthouse near Fort Wiliams, Glentower Lower Observatory became our choice. The guesthouse is located at the beginning of Fort Williams coming from Glencoe, close to the town itself, but not in the town, so you easily can walk to the nice seafood restaurant Crannog (highly recommended!!) or High St.. The Tower room upstairs is a perfect choice to overlook Loch Linnhe and has a beautiful little gazebo like tower part of the room where you can sit, have a tea and indulge yourself with a view over the Loch! Bathroom and bed were very good, just space in teh wardrobe isn't that plenty.

Room Tip: Tower Room upstairs with a view on Loch Linnhe!

This is the second time that I've stayed at the Glentower Lower Observatory and again I was more than impressed. Plenty of room to park the car, just a short walk into Fort William. The room was immaculate, tastefully decorated with lots of space, a large bathroom not to mention a view to die for overlooking the loch. Breakfast is something to behold! with a very good spread of traditional Scottish cooked and continental selection (amazing porridge) set in a lovely breakfast room with loch views. The owners are very polite and very helpful, I cant say enough about this guest house, I wont be staying anywhere else when I got back to Fort William.

We stayed three nights in June in Glentower Lower Observatory Guesthouse. We arrived by car and there was a good size parking area in front of the house. Our room was in the annex building. Our room was clean and comfortable but nothing special. Although our window gave to the front yard and the main road it was very quiet except when there were other guests arriving to the same building. The guesthouse is only a short walk from the centre of Fort William and it's location is also excellent for hikers. Breakfast was very good and service excellent. And the history of the house (former observatory) add a nice touch.

My husband and I stayed here the third night of our honeymoon roadtrip around Scotland. The Glentower Guesthouse was a sight for sore eyes after a day of driving on our first single-track roads! The grounds are very well-kept and it's conveniently located lochside, just as you pull into Fort William--about a three-to-five minute walk into the town center. The owners and staff were super friendly and welcoming.

Our room honestly surpassed my expectations for a guesthouse/B&B: it was large, nicely decorated and the bathroom was the kind you would find in a modern hotel room. After a day of hiking Glen Nevis, we took full advantage of the over-sized bathtub to warm up and relax. Breakfast the next morning was good, if not my favorite (the haggis still had casing around it, etc.). But other than that, the breakfast room itself was very nice with prompt service, and we had a view of the loch.

Having stayed in guest houses all over the British Isles I headed to Fort William Driving along the Lochside towards the town I was struck how many dull grey stone buildings there are.Suddenly I saw a beautiful colourful building. This was Glentower and I hoped that the first impression would last when i entered the building. The inside was fantastic and traditionally Scottish.
The owners are made for the job and create a lovely warm friendly feeling, which transmits to the staff.
This has to be the place to stay when in the Highlands,Its the best .A fantastic place full of history and tradition where the rooms are modern.
