“Lovely time.”

One of the best hostels we have stayed at. We were looking for somewhere for climbing Ben Nevis and fitted the bill nicely. We had a fantastic evening and we met some others travelers. Definitely recommended

Friendly welcome from the staff on duty. There the positives ended. We arrived around 7 pm and all the toilets/bathrooms were occupied with further guests queuing. We gave up and had a wash in the sink in our room. When we eventually got into the bathroom the following day the shower was covered in black mould. The accommodation was worn and shabby. Our room was tidy but the mattress covers were stained and our first impression was an overwhelming desire to leave. We were a bit unfortunate in that the fellow guests were very noisy and spent a few hours in the middle of the night being sick to the great amusement of others in their group. We left at 5.30 am having had enough. There are no staff on site overnight to deal with behaviour issues.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. If you have a choice of sleeping over in the car or this hostel, do yourself a favour and stay in the car. Our room for five cost £110 for the night. We could have obtained much better accommodation for this price.

Thank you for your feedback. It is most unfortunate that your stay coincided with one of the first major football games of the World Cup, and many of our guests were are rather boisterous on the night. Contrary to your report, however, staff do reside on the premises and had they known of your concerns at the time would certainly have intervened. We are proud of the high standard maintained in our hostel and normally guests tell of a good night's sleep. We're sorry this was not the case for you, but your experience was untypical of our guests' normal experience. We've heard there was hardly a quiet night to be had in town after the World Cup kick-off...

The rooms and communal areas were fantastic, although the bathrooms could have been a little cleaner. The rooms were comfy and spacious, but there was a lack of plug sockets. There also seemed to be a permanent cloud of midgies by reception, so stock up on repellent!

Very popular hostel. Staff are helpful and friendly. Two lounge areas and a kitchen and dining area as well as a drying room. The bathrooms are sizable and well kept. Make sure you bring the midge spray as there were a few floating around inside as well as out! The location is well situated for walks and has a car park out the front.

We booked the hostel through hostelworld.com. When we amended the dates (and paid all due charges for that) and received a confirmation for the new booking we were later told by the hostel that they could not accept the new booking while we are due to pay the first (and only) night's stay of the amended booking. All following emails remained unfriendly and unreasonable. We now try to find a new hostel on very short notice.

Warm, dry, clean, comfortable and friendly, everything a great hostel should be. Location was great for skiing at Nevis (5 min away) or Glencoe (about 45 min away). Friendly helpful staff.
Kitchen a bit small but everyone managed to work round each other no problem.
