On seeing this place on Trip Advisor and reading all of the great reviews I couldn't have been more excited to visit. Location was perfect. However to say how disappointed I was would be an understatement. When we arrived the place was freezing. And no instructions for the heating. Or anything else for that matter. I was embarrassed that I had brought my parents to this place as it had not been cleaned prior to us arriving. The fire was full of ash. Not a bit. Full of it. Stains on the cushions. All kitchen utensils filthy. Table cloth and placemats matted in God only knows what. I am by no means a picky person and even my dad thought that there must have been a blip due to other guest reviews in the visitor book. But to travel nearly 400 miles to have to clean where you are staying before you can do anything is a bit much. Due to the uncleanliness of this property we put spare sheets over the settee's and removed the cushions. This leans you then to wonder if the beds had even been changed. Obviously not something that you want to contemplate when you are staying somewhere. I was also unimpressed by the vase of dead flowers in smelly water on the kitchen windowsill. I chose not to contact the owner regarding our complaints as we were only there for a long weekend and did not want to ruin our precious time further. I also chose not to leave a review in the visitors book as I did not think that people would believe me. We stayed at three other places on our visit to Scotland and fortunately these made up for the disgrace that this place had been left in for us. Home from home? I don't think so! Value for money. Great. Extremely let down by owners. They should also inform customers to get wood, kindling etc on the way there due to remoteness or at least have some provisions for the first night. I will definitely visit the area again but will not be using Pinewood as a base. Utterly let down ☹️

“Nice house - owner cannot be contacted - someone entered the house in our absence”

This house is really OK (even nice), with a nice view on the lake,

But:

- The shower can hardly be used (almost no water).

- During the stay: no contact possible with the owner: mails are not answered.

- One day we were on a trip, and when we came home someone had controlled all our personnel things. Things were put on another place, and every room was "visited". A part of the wood we bought (for the fireplace) and stocked in the livingroom had disappeared.

We sent an alarming e-mail about this creepy experience to the owner, who didn't give any reaction.

We will never return.

The house is very spacious and well equipped. Ideally situated for a climb up Ben Nevis
or many other walks nearby. The gondola up Aanoch Mor was well worthwhile as I couldn't
do the climb.

“Great place to stay over Christmas”
Reviewed 11 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We had an excellent stay at Pinewood over the Christmas period. The cottage is ideally placed for time spent in the snow at Glencoe or the Nevis range. The property is in an isolated area thus a car is essential. All facilities worked well and we loved the peace and quiet of the location. The owner provided us with a Christmas tree and firewood for a fire on Christmas day.The only negative was on arrival when we could not find any signage directing us to the cottage.

“Wonderful location”
Reviewed 20 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

One week here and left relaxed and ready to take on the world again. Beautiful location, views wonderful - as only in Scotland we had every season in one day - rain, sun, snow, hail, windy but end of week the sun was splitting the trees. The house is a great size with plenty of room for everyone. Comfotable beds and beautiful linen. Very quiet and the two dogs had great time exploring the canal and surrounding area.

“Excelent base. Comfortable and warm. Brilliant views.”
Reviewed 17 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Couldn't have been better located for touring Western Scotland with trips to Mull,Oban, Aviemore, Inverness and Skye all within a pleasant day's travel. There were only the two of us and the pictures don't show how big the house really is with good quality furniture, a huge Kitchen, Dining Room and Lounge, all with excellent views of the Caladonian canal and mountains beyond. Anita and Iain were very helpful with a small problem and went out of their way to make things right. I would highly recommend this property. Relaxing and remote but still within easy reach of Spean Bridge amenities and Fort William. A big thank you to Anita and Iain.
