“Fantastic”

Had a lovely stay in Fort William in this exquisite bed and breakfast. Everything you come to expect from this type of accomodation you receive, welcoming owners, friendly advice on the local area and the 'things to do' surrounding Fort William and other parts of Scotland. Excellent food to start a Hiker's day up many of the hills and mountains that can be seen from every window of the b&b. The decor within the b&b was up to date, modern but still homely like any getaway should be. Very relaxing and enjoyable holiday which I would definitely recommend.

Spent a long time looking for a B&B to accommodate myself and 11 friends for a mountain biking and walking holiday. Stumbled on St. Anthonys through trip advisor and we all recommend it highly.

Gill and Dave were extremely helpful from the start and made sure we had somewhere safe to lock up all the bikes. They managed to squeeze 12 guys into all the rooms and even coped with our breakfast requests !

The B&B is extremely clean, well maintained and quite modern (unlike most others) - probably the best B&B we have all stayed in. Its only a 5 minute walk down the hill into town and plenty of parking at the B&B ( even for all of us !)

Thanks for a great stay and hope to see you again !!

Thank you for your lovely comments - so glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed your company and catering for you all - with rooms, food and bikes and we didn't even need to use the conservatory! We did our best with the weather too! Look forward to seeing some of you back here again one day.

We recently travelled up to Fort William from Glasgow for the Lochaber Marathon and decided to stay a couple of days to make a short break of it. I booked St Anthony's on the basis of the other positive reviews on this web site, and we were not disappointed - we had a fantastic break!

The guesthouse is set back from a small road on a hill above the main town in a quiet and peaceful spot overlooking the loch and the hills beyond. There are several seats in the well tended garden, which is a great spot to relax on a warm evening and admire the views. It's worth mentioning that even though the guesthouse is in a very quiet part of the town, you can reach the town centre in about 5-10 minutes on foot.

Our room was great and absolutely spotless - something that you cannot take for granted in the UK. The ensuite bathroom was a good size, modern and very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The views from the room were lovely and I believe that most rooms have a view of the loch, if not all of them.

Apart from the house and the location, the proprietors, Gill and Dave couldn't have been more welcoming - two genuinely friendly people who both had time to stop for a chat and to offer help when needed. We were made to feel very welcome, as were all the guests and I reckon that this makes all the difference! It's worth saying that they make a great cooked breakfast too!

I would definitely recommend St Anthony's and will be staying here next year when we travel up for the next Lochaber marathon. Can't wait!

St. Anthony's was absolutely terrific for our family. The rooms in the
family suite were huge and my teenage girls absolutely loved having a room of their own rather than sharing with us. The rates for family rooms, (which tend to be more difficult to find) were a great bargain.
The beds were comfy and the bath seemed newly renovated, if a bit dark. Breakfast was great, both the food and the view from the dining room windows.

Vicki and Chris were very helpful, assisting us in arranging our car hire and giving great tips for getting about and eating out. We enjoyed visiting nearby Glencoe and Glenfinnan, and hiked through part
of Glen Nevis to see Steall Falls, all filming sites for the Harry Potter movies. We especially enjoyed the cruise on Loch Schiel with Highland Cruises and a day trip to Drumnadrochit to see Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness 2000 exhibit. My husband and I also walked around the small town of Fort William and down to the old Fort ruins, a now somewhat unimpressive site featured in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.

We can't wait until we can visit again, and would definitely return to St. Anthony's.

  • Liked — The spacious rooms and friendly service.
  • Disliked — The bare walls. Some artwork would have made the rooms seem a little less spartan, although they were perfectly comfortable.

I found this B&B searching around a bit; the ones I was interested in on this website weren't available. Well, this was quite a find. I stayed here with my parents during our two week trip through the UK. St. Anthony's is located at the top of the hill overlooking Ft. William and Loch Linnhe- a beautiful view! Take a cab up if you're arriving by train, but walking up and down (without luggage) is no problem for most. Vicky and Chris are warm and welcoming. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. Breakfasts are enormous and memorable with the view out the large windows in the breakfast room. The rates are very reasonable. I highly recommend and hope to return soon.
