“Good bunkhouse - does what it says on the tin.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2011

Couldnt really fault anything about the accomodation - the only quibble being that with a room beside the main area/kitchen, the chances of a long lie were fairly remote!
If you're looking for low cost, clean and straightforward then it's absolutely fine.

We stayed here in May. Inn has/had no drinks licence then so no drinks. Our room was fine, very clean and toilettries were in abundance. We did have a good nights sleep on a comfortable bed - there the good things end.
We opted for a meal in the hotel, not a good move. No menu and no prices. We ordered and had to wait a very long time for our food. We started with soup - it was ok but the bread rolls had obviously come out of the microwave and were chewy. Our main meal, after a really long wait, was very low standard. More than half the plate was chips and the veg were from a packet of frozen. There was an unbelievable amount of food on the plate, pity most of it was left. My husband had a goulash, again a huge amount with most of it going back. It tasted ok, just the portion was well above what any normal human would eat. The owner seemed to boast that most people cant finish the portions. I felt this was an old idea to pile the food high and have most of it returned to the kitchen to get rid of. The dining room was very cold and the other guests did complain and a gas heater, along with the huge red gas cylinder was light. The last time I saw a heater like that it was on a building site and did not think they were allowed in a hotel environment.
Breakfast next morning did not start till 9.00am (Sunday) and we did ask the owner the night before the time he started serving but got no answer so we appeared at 8.00am. Nothing. The cereal was out and we poured out some each. The rice crispies were soft so I started again with the cornflakes and they were ok. We took them to our room and put on the kettle only to find that most of the things in the tea tray were out of date. Tea and coffee out of date I dont mind but I draw the line at using the little milk straws. We ate what we could and got ready to leave. We met the owner down stairs making the breakfast and he did offer us a cooked one but we needed to leave due to the lateness in the day. He gave us some apples and tablet to take away. The tablet was good.
Payment had to be by cash and again no explanation as to how the charges were made up as no bill was produced.

The corran bunkhouse is a perfect place to stay for exploring the Ben Nevis area. We stayed as a group of 4 girls. Our room was clean and warm. Big plus side that all rooms are en suite. Our bathroom was lovely. Fantastic kitchen facilities too. Would definitely stay again!

I've stayed in most of the bunkhouses either in the Fort William or Glencoe area (this is located half-way between the two,), and would definately stay here again. The facilities are good (drying room, kitchen), and all the rooms have en-suite bathrooms. The drying room was effective. Nice and quite, good nights sleep., nice touches like a towel in the bathroom which other bunkhouses don't have.

We stayed in a twin ensuite room which was very clean and modern and had everything we needed. The room was a bit on the small side as we hardly had enough space to put our luggage somewhere but other than that it was very good. There is free parking space outside. The kitchen was very big and had all the necessary amenities to cook. It's ideally situated a few miles outside Fort William, in Onich, with easy access to Kinlochleven and Glencoe for walks.
This is highly recommended and I would stay here again! It was one of the best places in Scotland we stayed in if budget accommodation is what you're looking for !

Not our first time there (one of us, indeed, has stayed several times before) but welcome this time was somewhat brusque, unfortunely. There are more pleasant ways of greeting guests than asking for immediate payment, especially if advance payment has previously been offered.
Our en-suite room was spacious, clean and had its own little fridge and tv. Kitchen and dining-toom are a bit small but well furbished. Pub and hotel next door in case it's too busy inside. Wonderful location by the loch side and ferry harbour over to Ardgour.

Great place very convenient for Corran ferry. Next to an Inn so you don't have to cater for yourself. Fantastically well equipped. Could do with WiFi internet connection.
