No hot water, terrible service, shabby rooms. Very hard to find someone at reception & when they did turn up they had no idea of procedures. The first room we were shown ahd not been cleaned or made up.
It was expensive & not worth the money.

Room Tip: find somehere else

Stayed here one night on a trip round Scotland. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the young barman very helpful. Plenty of parking, seats to look out over Skye, and the view from the 2nd Floor bedroom and bathroom were unsurpassed. The room was large, with wonderful views, but everything was a bit dated and a bit tired. We had dinner elsewhere, but the breakfast was fine, especially the fresh fruit, which was a first in Scotland - although my two poached eggs looked a bit sad and lonely on a white plate all by themselves.

We organised a Scottish Tour for a large group of friends (20 cars and almost 40 people), staying here for one night. The location is supreme, by the water close to the Skye Bridge with wonderful views. Appears to be a 1920s/1930s design which is refreshing after so many Victorian Scottish Hotels. The initial impression was wonderful after a tiring day's travel - fresh, clean, comfortable and spacious. Lots of free parking along the front. Bright and appealing public spaces and spacious comfortable rooms. The food was superb and the service exemplary, and commented on as such by most of the group. Organising the tour visit could not have been easier, because the owner was very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with.
Altogether helped to make it a wonderful week in the west of Scotland.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on second or third floor overlooking the water - there is a lift.

Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Our room had windows on 3 sides, 1 looked at the Co-Op: 1 looked at the Skye Bridge: the 3rd over the sea to Skye, guess which way we looked out ?
Very good food and service for both dinner and breakfast. Lots of choice and the food very well prepared and served.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of Skye.

Stayed with friend and the room was on the second floor and had amazing views! The room was good size with ensuite but the bath was not clean and hair in the plug hole :-( the TV was on small side fir the room and few channels. I was under impression wifi would be available in the rooms but alas no only in the front lounge area which was not great strength there. The staff were lovely friendly however there was a language barrier with one waitress and she understood or spoke little English which frustrated some other guests. The menu was standard and it was average standard but I am not a fan of McDonald's style chips and I detest having to use sauces from plastic sachets. The breakfast was good and the cooked breakfast cooked to order and was really tasty. The only thing I found was it would be much more comfy for guests if light back ground music was playing as it was silent and quite awkward for us at times.

Room Tip: Great view from rooms on second floor ask for harbour view

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed in the hotel for a 2 night break over the Easter weekend. I have read a mixture of reviews, but I'm afraid my room was not up to scratch. The hotel is in a wonderful location, but is in desperate need of some modifications and upgrades. I had a twin room at the back, with a lovely view of the smashed old windows on the roof below my bedroom. The curtains were handing off the rail, and the chairs were worn, torn and no padding. Didn't actually want to sit on the chair at the dresser in case it collapsed.
Like a previous reviewer, my room was cold, but there was a plug in heater that did the job. The bathroom was very basic, but adequate. My bed did not have a top sheet, under the duvet, but was reasonably comfortable.
I found the food OK, but nothing special. They could make much more of the stunning views from the various dining rooms for breakfast and evening meal. It just doesn't feel very inviting in my opinion.
The staff were friendly, if a little slow, but they did make an effort.
I wouldn't rush back I'm afraid, shame.
