“Superb food, great hospitality – a first-class B&B”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

We are a couple from near Cologne and have toured Scotland on various occasions before and can thus make an objective statement as to the quality of family-run B&Bs. Argathnie and its lovely, charming and most hospitable, warm-hearted owners, Pat and Jim are clearly on the top of the list of all the B&Bs throughout the UK that we can sincerely and thoroughly recommend – in particular to the more discerning guests.
As soon as we entered the house, we were greeted with a genuine and extremely cordial smile by Pat. Both Pat and her friendly and humorous husband Jim really went out of their way to accommodate and anticipate all our needs. They even provided us with a map of Scotland and various brochures on rewarding tourist sights along the Moray Coast which proved to be quite useful. Both rooms we stayed in (a double room on the first night and the twin-room for the subsequent three nights) were comfortable, cosy, most tastefully furnished and the twin-room in particular was very spacious with a shower room en-suite.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious and included some delectable home-made jams of an exquisite variety of fruits.
Best of all: the friendly owners recommended we attend a genuine Ceilidh, i.e. an evening of entertainment with Scots traditional, folk and Gaelic music, fiddlers, pipers and highland dancing held in the Royal British Legion Hall in Nairn every Thursday from mid June to mid September (see www.nairnceilidhgroup.org.uk) . We had a whale of a time and were taught the first amateurish steps of the Scottish Reel dance (admittedly with unfaltering patience on the part of the experienced local dancers). We were given a most cordial welcome and greeted like old friends by the organizers of the event. While in the area, this is definitely an event not to be missed. All things considered, Argathnie is a superb, top-quality B&B in Nairn
which we would very much like to visit again in the near future. Don´t look anywhere else in the area. This is the place to go! A big thank you to Pat and Jim for their outstanding hospitality and for sending us a kind e-mail to see whether we have arrived sound and safe back home.

Excellent stay at the Argathnie , couldn't fault the room , service , friendly welcome etc. Lovely breakfast including a delicious fruit platter instead of the cooked breakfast at our request. Thanks for everything.

My wife and i stayed for 3 nights. Great value for money, Pats home made jam was a nice touch to an excelent breakfast.Ithink it would be hard to find a better B&B for the price.Location is very handy for the town and a short walk to the harbour. Would highly recommend this B&B.

We stayed for one week in in the Cottar's House (self-catering for two) adjacent to Argathnie and then moved across for two nights in a very pleasant ensuite room in the B&B. The facilities in both were excellent with many nice little extra touches provided. Argathnie and the Cottar's House are very well situated for all facilities in Nairn and around. We would recommend both the self-catering and the B&B without hesitation.

I stayed here while on business for a few weeks in Nairn. An excellent place to stay, very warm in the winter, gorgeous breakfasts with Pat's homemade jams, and a lovely atmosphere. My room had an ensuite and a flat-screen tv, and I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Nairn. Only a few minutes walk from the fabulous beach and coastline, and a 3 minute walk to the centre of town. Excellent.

My mate and I stayed here for one night during a "boys" motorbike weekend. The hospitality was second to none and the room and the substantial breakfast were even better than we expected. The location is also ideal for a stroll round Nairn's town centre. We always rate a hotel or B&B on whether we would return with our wives and families; some places we've been don't fit the bill, but the Argathnie ticks all the boxes. Highly Recommended and "We'll be back" !!

Room Tip: All good; quiet location

We stayed 2 nights in Nairn at Pats B&B. The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade jam and marmelade. Pat gave us excellent tips for dining and free apples from her tree (awesome apples!!). We would always recommend it.
