We were given a Christmas present from my son - afternoon tea for two. I'd been past the place a few times but never stopped in so made a day of it by going to Brodie then to Aldearn Antiques before popping in here. I have to say my first impressions were excellent. A very clean and tidy hotel, well done out and very warm despite it being an old building (not at all tired or shabby looking). After selecting our sandwiches, we went through to the dining room, which overlooks the large pond in the gardens. The sandwiches were very nice, and were followed by scones with cream and jam, and an excellent piece of (I apologise to the hotel for not remembering the name) gateaux - like a pear cheesecake with caramel on the top and a base soaked in calvados. An excellent afternoon tea, but at £17.50pp, very pricey- as it says on the website - indulgent. I should also say that the staff were extremely pleasant and communicative. Worth a visit, even if it's a one-off
