“Quiet,relaxing location.”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Hotel is situated in a prime location , overlooking the Moray Firth. All facilities are at hand , rooms decorated sympathetically and a homely atmosphere. Staff were polite and friendly, although waiting to be seated at the restaurant could be slow at times. Food was cooked well and there was a comprehensive choice of menu.
Nairn is located within easy reach of many attractions in the area.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the seafront , is ideal and has a lovely view of the Moray Firth and also, the se...

We have a lovely few days at the hotel in one of the four poster bedroom with great views overlooking the sea, the weather was great which made our trip much more enjoyable. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, little noise from other rooms considering the hotel was full was a bonus. The staff were polite and helpful.

We only ate breakfast in the hotel mainly due to the terrible comments made by recent people staying at the hotel, the breakfast was reasonable but we failed to see why the chef would serve a rasher of bacon, a sausage, an egg and slice of haggis and slice of black pudding making the breakfast too fatty, we would have preferred either one or the other, it would have been preferable to have some mushrooms or another option.

We ate at the local Italian which was ok, lots of choices though not the best we have tasted. We also had a meal at another hotel (Sunny Brae) the food was great, limited though all proteins covered, and the service impeccable, alcohol quite expensive.

Room Tip: If you are wanting a four poster room with great views room 30 was great.

We had lunch here with a friend, as we have done previously. It was 12.30 and very quiet except for a group of Rotary that were in another room. We seated ourselves in the Conservatory and waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After 15 minutes a waiter came with two meals, only one was what we ordered. He left one and took the other away. I did not start eating as the others hadn't got their meals. Good job I hadn't as the waiter came back and took it away, saying there had been a mix up. We finally got our meals, an hour after we had ordered. Only one other couple were in the Conservatory and although the waiters apologised there is no excuse for sloppy service. Good food spoilt by second rate service. Won't be back in a hurry.

I am sorry to say but the rate of decline in the last 2 years has been shocking. We arrived went for a swim and then with 2 young children went to get food at 17:30. The conservatory tables were still dirty, full of empty glasses, from the lunchtime sitting. There was no staff member available, in the bar, so had to go to the reception to get served. We were shown the very limited menu to choose from none of which i liked so i asked for steak and chips but was told that steak was only available from 18:45 onwards. The drinks took forever to arrive as did the food. This terrible service continued for the next 2 days of our stay. Don't get me wrong the staff are pleasant but there is not enough of them to provide good service.

We have just returned from a midweek break in the hotel. I had read some previous reviews but I thought I would see for myself. On arrival We found the reception staff friendly, they said as we were early, our room wasn't quite ready but we were offered complementary tea or coffee in the lounge, we declined as we decided to have lunch instead which was lovely. When our room was ready, we were pleasantly surprised, room 10 on the first floor was really nice, a four poster bed, a nice spacious room and large bathroom with a walk in shower plus a jacuzzi bath. The view from our room was fantastic, facing the beach which was about 150 yards away. The leisure facilities were really good as well. In the evening we had a 6 course taster meal which I thought was very good. Though the portions were small, remember it was 6 courses. I will definitely come back in the future.

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing the beach, view to die for.

I have just returned from the golf view hotel, staying on the 17,18,and 19 March 2014. Having been a regular here for many years, I was slightly wary given the recent reviews, but I am not sure they were even speaking about the same hotel. The staff as always were lovely and friendly, some new faces from last year but still very attentive. The new restaurant manager called Ankit is worth his weight in gold, he clearly knows his stuff and has been well trained to a high standard. We were on dinner bed and breakfast, and I no point could I have faulted the food or the service. Dinner was delicious and the breakfast delightful. The spa facilities too were lovely and relaxing just what I needed. The sea view rooms are a must and worth the extra for the view. My only disappointment was that the steam room and the hot tub were broken and waiting on parts, but we still had the use of the heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna which were all lovely. I look forward to visiting again soon. So keep up the good work Simon.

We have stayed at the Golf View numerous times over the last 10 years and it became our favourite hotel in the Inverness area. However this week we stayed on a two night Groupon break and were disappointed. The location is good and we found the staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room (5) was clean and comfortable but no toiletries, even soap, were supplied for wash handbasin or bath - unacceptable in a 4* hotel. Bar and breakfast food was acceptable but below the standard provided on previous visits. Bar drink prices were very high. When next we visit Nairn we will consider alternative hotels where previously the Golf View was an automatic choice.

Room Tip: Our friends had a room on the second floor which was better than ours !
