“Could not fault our stay”
Reviewed 2 October 2009

We had a brilliant stay - hard to fault The rooms were lovely, very spacious and clean. Location was spot on - gym and spa facilities were good. Lovely views over the Moray Firth. The food was exquisit and the service was firendly and efficient - especially the waiting staff in the restaurant. We stayed for 2 nights - would have liked to have upgraded to a room with a sea view - would do so next time. Excellent value!
A TV with freeview would have been nice and perhaps a little more milk.

We had booked a four poster on the web but this was unavailable so we were offered a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was 5 star class and had a huge lounge with included sofa, chairs and a tv with dvd. The bedroom had another tv with dvd and both rooms had stunning views of the sea and the Black Isle. The bathroom was large with a bath and power shower.
We were on dinner bed and breakfast and we were delighted with the choice and the quality of the food and wine. The lamb was cooked to perfection and all the dishes were beautifully presented..compliments to the chef and the restaurant team.
The leisure facilities are the best we have found in Scotland.
Reception staff were professional and friendly and the whole hotel generated warmth and comfort .10/10 for the Golf view.

We arrived at the Golf View intending to stay one night but enjoyed our stay so much we stayed a second night.

Location: The hotel is situated just outside the centre of Nairn and sits in small grounds, very close to the beach. We had a sea view both nights and that really made the difference as it is a stunning view over the Moray Firth. If i was staying here again I would request a sea view as the other rooms seem to look out over the road.

Food: There was a choice of two restaurants, fine dining and conservatory. We chose the conservatory both nights as it looks out over the sea. The food was about the best we have ever eaten in a hotel, with a good choice of dishes all of which were well priced given that it's a 4*. The battered haddock was the best i'd ever had!!

Rooms: Slightly old fashioned but very comfortable. Rooms are clean and quite spacious-we stayed in a double and the bed seemed like a king size which was excellent for sprawling out on!! The TVs are a bit dated by today's standards but do the job, although there is only a limited choice of channels.

Staff: All were friendly, attentive and very welcoming

Leisure centre: There is a small pool attached to the hotel, that has a jacuzi; steam room; sauna and gym. Although small it's really relaxing and has great views over the sea (the walls are glass and let in lots of natural light).

All in all this is fantastic hotel, and I would recommend it for a short beak for those that want to relax and go for long walks on beautiful beaches!!

We stayed on the dinner, bed and breakfast package.
Welcome was very hospitable.
Room was very comfortable, clean, well equipped with an excellent view over the Moray Firth (which we were able to really enjoy one beautiful evening when the excellent waitor carried our cheese board - that we were unable to finish at dinner - and port up to our room)
Restaurant meals were of excellent quality (we never tried the conservatory). There was around 4 choices per course that changed daily (which was much appreciated as we were there for 3 nights). The portions were generous but not so big you would not be able to finish your meal (unless you tucked into the bread - which was hard to resist as it was home baked and of multiple choice). The fish dishes and duck were of particular note, while the cheese board was very generous and consited of very tasty locally produced varieties The waiting staff were polite, friendly and attentive without being intrusive (a rare quality we find). It's fair to say the the restaurant quickly became the past of the day we most looked fwd to.
Breakfast too was very good, much like any well run hotel.

Around Nairn we found lots to do. We tended to head out in car by day to visit local whiskey distilleries and the driving scenary if you keep off the main roads is unbelievable. We often finshed the afternoon with a walk along the beach/prom looking out over the firth to see if we could spot any dolphins.

This hotel is a great place to unwind and enjoy fine food while having lots near by to keep you occupied by day (and there is always the health suite to enjoy too).

Hotel close to beach where dolphins occassionally swim by. A warm welcome at reception and up to a sea-view room worth the supplement overlooking Moray Firth. The bedroom was very spacious, very clean, and solid furniture that had character.

The staff can be commended for their freindliness, but only suggestion would be lower voice when waitress enters kitchen as whole restaurant could hear which table number had just finished what course as kitchen door closes slowly! Dining room had a 4 course option and menu changed daily (unlike some other 4 star hotels). Never tried conservatory but had drinks there in comfortable surroundings and clever way it is on a few levels to allow those sitting further back a chance of a view out to sea and maybe see a dolphin.

The leisure club was good and of a decent size for a 40-odd room hotel. Again, some extra thought had gone in to the gardens as bushes cut away at foot to allow a view out to sea while in the pool.

Overall, a first class hotel and location, and we shall certainly return.

I booked this via the Crerar site, after much web searches for accommodation in Nairn, I choose this for quality & Value for money. We arrived just after the flash floods in Nairn which caused damage to the pool area therefore closed during our stay (the reason for 9/10).
I booked a standard room on a b&b basis & was allocated one with a sea view (great start) although the room could do with a paint job.
The hotel was fully booked due to a wedding function etc, but the service did not deteriorate, the breakfast on the 1st day was 1st class, but the 2nd day it was a bit dried up (under the heat lamps too long) but was replace in 5 mins after I mentioned it.
Conservatory Restaurant - We met up with some relatives (8 of us) and had a meal here, choice of food was a bit limited, plus there was only one steak available, value for money on this I would give 8/10, could be improved.(pricing & choice).
As the weather was good we also used the tennis courts & had a fabulous time here in this very friendly hotel, which takes customer care & satisfaction to their heart, nothing was an effort. We will certainly return & recommend it to friends, family & work colleagues.

We were here 4 nights and very much enjoyed our stay at the Golf View Hotel. The young staff that waited on us in both the dining room, and in the other restaurant, were very friendly and attentive. This is a delightful place to stay. Very well done.
