We stayed at the Golf View earlier this month for two nights and had a fantastic time. The food was lovely, especially the Thai Duck rolls !! The rooms were very clean, well decorated and comfortable with great views out to the sea. There were 8 of us altogether and a very young baby. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, nothing was a problem from start to finish. The lounge with the open fire was perfect for a pre dinner / post walk on the beach drink !
Thankyou again, we will be back again next year that's for sure !

This is a lovely hotel with the nicest 'front-line' staff you could wish for, however it is suffering MAJOR problems with the boilers at present and this has an impact on the residents, particularly those who wish to use the Leisure club.
I was told that the hotel has 10 boilers but only 2 of them are working at present. Some residents had complained of the cold in the bedrooms and some of the public areas including the Leisure club.
If, like me, you have visited previously and enjoyed the pleasant pool and spa temperature and the relaxing atmosphere of the sauna, then you are in for a BIG disappointment at present.
The air temperature beside the pool is on the chilly side and is being boosted by an industrial type heater which blows warm air. The water temperature is MUCH cooler that previously experienced and the sauna is off altogether! It seems that it is necessary to keep the sauna off in order to allow sufficient power for the industrial heater!
I asked how long this problem would last and was told that it would take quite a long time (weeks) as the replacement boilers needed to be granted planning permission before the work could commence.
So, if you are booking the Golf View because the Leisure club is important to you PLEASE PLEASE phone and check the situation before you book otherwise you may be very disappointed. I certainly wasnt warned either by phone, in writing, or email that there was a problem.

Thank you for posting a review of trip advisor

We are at present resolving the issue of the reduction in boiler capacity .
The bedrooms and public areas are in our view adequetly heated and additional heating has been placed in every room, for any guest that may feel this is necessary.
The hotel has been very busy over the last few weeks and we have not expierenced any volume of negative feedback that suggests this is a major problem with comfort for guests staying at the hotel and that current arrangements are inadquate.
We are working urgently to resolve this to a speedy conculsion.
Regretably I did not speak to you myself as I could have provided more accurate and factual information than you have been given when you stayed with us.
I expect the situation to contiually improve on a daily basis as we resolve issues with regard to the initial problem of reduced capacity.

Kind Regards

We booked this hotel for our 4 night break (21/11 to 25/11) at short notice, based on previous TA reviews and were not disappointed.
The hotel is located right on the coast with great views over-looking the Moray Firth (thankfully we had booked a sea view room).
On arrival the girl on the front desk was friendly, helpful and efficient and directed us to our room (No 48) on the top floor.
The room was large and contained a small hallway, large bathroom containing bath and shower, and the bedroom itself with massive bed, couch, coffee table, and Satellite TV, not to mention the excellent views of the Moray Firth and esplanade over the well manicured hotel grounds, from the bay window.
We dined in the hotel on 2 of our 4 nights (wished we had dined there every night though). We chose to eat in the less formal conservatory rather than the fine dining restaurant. The standard was excellent and again the staff were faultless and the food was of a very high standard. The waitress was tested to the full on the monday evening (23/11) by two extremely drunk guests who appeared to be contractors sent there by their company, but she coped with their shocking behavior perfectly. We assumed this was a one-off incident and it did not do much to spoil our stay, although everyone dining were disctracted by events. We were relieved to hear they were not staying adjacent to us as they announced they were staying in either room 16 or 18 (a couple of floors away from our room).
Breakfast was wonderful, with a full selection of cereals, juices, cold meats, fruit etc on the buffet as well as the cooked options, toast, tea and coffee served to order at your table (we indulged in the full Scottish every morning without fail).
We did not havethe oportunity to use the indoor pool or leisure facilities but they looked great. My wife did book the spa treatments and had an excellent experience.
All in all, we will certainly be staying here again on our frequent holidays on the Moray Coast and the management should also take credit for the training given to the staff to maintain this high standard of service.
Keep up the good work and we look forward to being back soon.

Having been to a wedding at this hotel I would not recommend it. I have been in the Hospitality industry for 40 years & it was very hard for me to keep sitting in my seat & not head for the kitchen. The service was very slow ,main course was cold the vegetables were hard & the Yorkshire Puddings were flat & hard .To me the kitchen is not run properly or it was under staffed .I know Functions are a nightmare but if the Kitchen Leader is on the ball it will run smoothly. A beautiful hotel & wedding was let down by the KITCHEN STAFF. We would stay here again ,the rooms were excellent but would not attend a function .

Thank you for posting a review on tripadvisor.

I was very disappointed that you did not enjoy your wedding main course. None of these points with your meal were brought to the functions manager attention at the time you were eating and we would have taken every step possible to rectify the issues you identified if we had been made aware at that time.

We also had many positive comments regarding the meal on the evening and given that this was a 4 course meal with choices on 3 courses we felt that timing was to our general expectation.

We are pleased that you enjoyed other aspects of the hotel and thank you for bringing your points to our attention.

Can't wait to return! From the first hello this hotel was first class.

Friendly staff who go out of their way to be pleasant and helpful...including a charasmatic nightporter!!!!
Great location. Room 32 (which was an upgrade) was clean, lovely toiletries and big bathroom, tastefully decorated, a decent size and had a sea view...morning delight. King size bed and new flatscreen FV.
Spa and pool were way above expectations for a property this size.
Dinner was great each night and as mentioned in other reviews the menu changes each night. Rated at 1 rosette, this is good value and a strong contender for 2 rosettes.
Breakfast was great and buffet for cold food to a decent level. Would see tattie scones as an almost expected option but not available and love the option of venison OR pork sausages!! Nice touch but to be fully honest did not find the venison option the best.

In resume, the attitude of the staff rang through as second to none supported by a wonderful product.

Just returned from a 4 night break in the Golf View hotel - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The location is wonderful - right next to the sea and a lovely walk by the beach at the back of the hotel. Lovely views from the conservatory and from the pool area - we did not have a sea view from our room though but ths was not a problem.

The hotel has an intimate and friendly feel - all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We were really impressed with our room - large, comfortable and nicely decorated. There was a little bedroom off the main room with bunkbeds and another television, which was perfect for our 6 year old. The bathroom was large and modern and had a bath and separate shower cubicle.

We were on a half board package and had evening meals in the fine dining restaurant. The food was excellent - delicious and beautifully presented. The menu changed nightly, the selection each evening was great and the children's menu was also impressive. Breakfast was equally good and waiting staff were wonderful. The only (very minor) problem we had in the evenings was that we chose (as did most people) to have coffee after dinner in the lounge and on 2 occasions it did not arrive. We did not chase it up though, but had a very sleepy 6 year old, and couldn't wait any longer. This is though a minor complaint overall.

The pool area is also very nice - airy, light and modern with a lovely seating area where you can see the pool.

We used this as a base to explore the dolphin watching spots of the Moray Firth - Spey Bay, Chanonry Point and Fort George. It is also close to Culloden and about a 1 hour drive from Loch Ness.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

All in all totally relaxing just what we needed.
