A beautiful name for an unfortunate place. My wife and I planned for our 40th wedding to be both magical and romantic. Instead we spent our weekend dodging uncomfortable conversation and below average food. For the price I payed I expected a little more than awkward words in the lobby and frozen fish. I desperately wanted to try some of Scotland's best whiskeys (my great grandfather was Scottish) and instead felt impelled to drink some lesser known ones by the 'whiskey expert' Iain. All in all, it was a mediocre experience in a mediocre town for a disgustingly high price. I would probably recommend this place to a college student, maybe, seeking thrills on a spring break, or a 'lad's night out'. However, if your weekend or getaway means anything to you, do not choose this place. Unless you enjoy disappointment. One more thing, anywhere that puts recycled seashells on my plate is not a place I would intend to stay within the future. I hope the Sunny Brae will read my comments and make adjustments for the future clients.

We spent one night in this hotel because we were at a wedding in the town. In general prices quoted for hotels in the town were expensive. This hotel was reasonably priced and was very welcoming and comfortable. It was in very good decorative order and was exceptionally clean. I could find no fault with the standard of cleanliness.

This is a superb property and a great value. We were not able to get a room with a view of the beach, but that didn't matter - the room was great anyway. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated and bright, even when the sun wasn't shining. Rooms have an iron (very unusual for guest houses from our experience), trouser press, coffee/tea making facilities, plenty of electrical outlets - all things American tourists have come to expect.

The food was wonderful - we ate dinner and breakfast here. After dinner, they serve coffee in their sunny guest lounge. along with some delightful chocolates. Our host even gave us a lesson on single malt whisky - how to find the one you like and how to drink it (with a couple drops of water).

We would definitely return if we are back in this area again.

Their brochure is accurate - it really does have uninterrupted views of the sea! What a nice small hotel. Family run and they do make the extra effort. There were so many special touches - like the fresh flowers everywhere and bathrobes in the rooms. The breakfast were by far and away the best selection anywhere. Also great location. Can't wait to return!

This is a great hotel. The rooms are of a reasonable size and the ones with a view are worth the extra. Everything was clean and bueatifully decorated. No lift but the owner was more than happy to help with bags. The hotel is fully non smoking and is a very quiet retreat.

The restaurant is run by the owner and cannot be missed - I highly suggest the meals package. The lady owner is the chef and uses the best local produce with a French influenced cuisine. The breakfast is also fantastic and more than ample.

The only downside is that the staff are too friendly - we ended up chatting with them for hours on end.

A very lovely small hotel that is situated on the beach. It is very clean and the facilities are excellent. The owners have received numerous awards from the Scottish Hospitality Industry. We would highly recommend the Sunny Brae Hotel.
