“The very best view in Scotland”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

You can sit upon this hill and see the most wonderful views on any day in any weather. On some days you can practically have all seasons in one day. Never get tired of looking out from the Lyle hill I consider myself very lucky to have on my door step.

“Lyle Hill”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

The view from the Lyle Hill is spectacular and I would recommend taking a camera. There is a cross near the summit which was (I think) a gift to Greenock from the French Navy but apart from that there is nothing else of interest.

“Second best view in the world”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

The Lyle Hill overlooking Greenock and Gourock across the Firth of Clyde towards the Argyll Hills is majestic. Its panorama is most certainly worth a visit on either a sunny day or evening. As the sun sets behind Dunoon the view is spectacular. However in my opinion it is the second best view in the world. My first choice of best view in the world comes upon you while travelling to Greenock by road westwards on the M8 motorway. Approx 300 yards after the Erskine Bridge off ramp, the motorway drops downwards towards Langbank. The sight that meets you is nothing short of spectacular as the river widens before your very eyes and your vista contains both sides of the majestic River Clyde with Dumbarton Rock, Helensburgh and the Argyll Hills on your right. In front is the towns of Port Glasgow and Greenock with Dunoon and the setting sun (if travelling in evening) beyond. On a calm sunny day or evening the surface of the river is like a mirror. I like my other fellow Greenockians know that we are home when we encounter this view - MAGIC

“History and views”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

History comes from the unique Cross of Lorraine in memory of the Free French sailors who sailed out of Greenock during World War 2. Views over the Clyde and of the Argylleshire hills are wonderful on a fine day.
As there may not be easy public transport a car would be the best way to get there.
