Apart from the slightly too firm bed, which comes down to personal preference of course, there was little not to like here. Old building comfortably furnished, room a decent size and a special mention for the modern walk in shower instead of a bath/shower arrangement. Only ate breakfast which was of good quality and taken in a pleasant light room with a comfortable atmosphere. The hotel was able to supply gluten free bread without issue. (We'd emailed a prior request but it seems they can get it at short notice). Staff generally very good, friendly always and helpful when advice sought. Parking in small hotel car park or ample room on wide quiet streets. Room price seemed very competitive compared to Glasgow. Stayed for three days during Commonwealth Games and this hotel contributed to what was a wonderful trip to Scotland.

Stayed here overnight when visiting friends. Had an upgraded room which was spacious but very run down and in desperate need of some tlc! The bathroom had cracked tiles and missing grout. Damaged bedroom furniture and generally in need of modernisation.
Staff were friendly and lunch menu good value from bar. Breakfast was very poor with little choice and such a long wait for a fried egg we gave up!
Probably the best hotel in Greenock at one point but living on that reputation that it doesn't deserve anymore. Expensive for what it is.

We stayed at this hotel & used the train to get into Glasgow for the commonwealth games. The hotel was very good, room comfortable & clean & to food reasonably priced. All the staff were very helpful & welcoming. Although very busy with other events we had no problems with the service.

Food was very nice and atmosphere was relaxing.Price in comparison to many other hotels we stayed in during two weeks of Lower/Central ,Highland and Island hopping was excellent..75 pounds per night. Clean room and good facilities. Very well maintained for on old hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights during the Games and had a great time. The Hotel is very traditional with some great contemporary art on show. Every member of the plentiful staff provided excellent customer service with a warm friendly approach. Breakfast was good although the cooked was left in warmers for a bit long and was therefore a bit chewy. The evenings in the bar were very relaxed with the food menu being available in there or in the restaurant. Very good value for money. Would certainly recommend to anyone staying in the area.

lovely hotel in a nice position, nice staff, lovely rooms, stayed on the 5th August as in the area on business, enjoying my stay including a pleasant meal and drink in the lounge, however unfortunately there was a loud, foul mouthed bigot who had no respect for either the staff or fellow guest's, including sprawling on one of the sofas and taking, total disregard for other diners and guest's, including women guest's who must have been disgusted with his foul loud mouth Behaviour, what is disappointing is that most of the staff noticed this and did not act, had i been with my Wife i would taken action myself.

that said i would definitely stay again.

Stayed here as part of a wedding that was being held in the Tontine Hotel. For £75 a night for 2 people including breakfast and being a 3 star we were not expecting anything fancy just a place to lay our heads.

The customer service was excellent, the receptionist advised us our room was not ready (we arrived before the 3pm check in) we were in a bit of a rush to get read and get to the church in time for the ceremony and after a few minutes she offered us twin room that was ready straight away which was great as we didnt even ask and were prepared to wait patiently for our room.

The room itself was lovely, not huge but very very clean and the beds were so comfortable, it had everything we needed!

After the wedding i asked the night porter if they had any local food places to go as we missed the evening buffet and instead of sending us out in the pouring rain looking for somewhere he made us some food which was needed.

Yes its not the Ritz but for a 3 star hotel they are spot on with what they are offering and charging! great customer service!!
