I love the jimmy watt ! I must admit I am a big fan of the wetherspoon chain who seldom fail to supply decent food at a very reasonable price I have eaten in many of their pubs and have seldom been disappointed. Always a good atmosphere although sometimes noisy toilets always spotless ,can't fault it.

A previous visit suggested the James Watt was acceptable for the price paid. However a second visit showed it gave basically the same quality of products as before. If anything the food was slightly worse than last time, being a little soggy but i wasn't expecting any improvement from last time. Still very inflexible regarding bill payment meaning i ended up with 4 receipts for a meal for 1 person during the evening. But you really do get what you pay for. In all, a few beers and a meal for well under £20 so you have to be prepared to compromise. Considering the number of places to eat after 8pm, i'll probably end up going back next time.

Ordered the Barmoral Chicken which is chicken breast with a peppercorn haggis mixture on top with a gravy. I thought it was tasty and didn't mind the haggis!! Served with fries. Menu has all the calories of every item. We ordered the mixed grill..lamb, gammon (ham) porkchop, beef...all was good. Would order the lamb again especially. Fish 'n Chips was also good, but they didn't remove any of the bones, so it was slow eating. Overall, nice atmosphere...would recommend and go back.
