The real bonus at the James Watt is the customer service of the staff. The bar staff always acknowledged you with a smile and let you know that you were close to being served. The manager even took the trouble to print off directions for me to go and buy some local ale that was on show in the pub. Thank you...I was successful.

Spent two weeks in Greenock during the Commonwealth Games as a Clydesider. Had several meals breakfasts and dinners in the James Watt. I Have no complaints. Very good value for money. The food was always well presented, fresh and hot. The portions ample and served on warm plates. The service from all the staff was always pleasant and helpful but if I was to name one particular smiling team member i would have to say it was Yvette.
Thank you all.

Food is great with a service to match, can be a bit rowdy at times and cold inside but good value for money

Positive:

Great Lager and Beer selection, both on tap and bottled.
Best prices in the area.
Many original features from the building (Victorian Central Post Office) embellished with familiar dark wood panelling and a varied selection of seating areas and types. It's large, open plan, building, and so can seem a little deserted when low on patrons.

Negative:
As with all Wetherspoons, no music. Can be atmosphere destroying when too quiet/busy.
Cheap food = cheap food! Some may say cheerful, I say I'll always come back for the beer only - I like my food exciting.

Been to The James Watt, while staying at the waterfront campus. Real nice place clean smart and excellent value for food. Breakfast yesterday was lovely and hot and the young lady who looked after us, Yvette was friendly and helpful with our orders, will definitely visit again. In fact we have a reunion on Thursday 1st August before we all leave after the games.

I live just outside Stranraer and would love to see a Witherspoons in the area.
