Can eat in bar or restaurant. Excellent quality and price and good range on the menu. Service friendly and good. Choice of half bottles of wine - really unusual!

Back at the Tontine for another meal yesterday. I had recently posted a review on the Tontine Hotel rather than Restaurant in error, stating that the service had been a bit poor. I'm happy to say it was much improved this time. Menus brought promptly, drinks order taken and brought right away, order taken, short wait for food. It got quite busy due to an event that evening, so we then went up and ordered another drink and asked for our bill.

Food was good as usual. Mac cheese was slightly cool in the middle, but was piping hot on the outside so I just mixed it a little.

Lounge was nicely decorated for Christmas too.

Keep up the good work!

Had a good bar meal here on a Sunday afternoon. One of our party is elderly and in a wheelchair and the Receptionist came to the back door to ensure we knew how to get from the entrance at the back of the hotel to the Bar. The food was good and, at £33 for three (including main courses, coffees, a beer and a glass of wine), was very reasonable. Staff regularly checked if were enjoying our meal and Receptionist asked on our way out as well.

From NYC, Liverpool and Greenock we gathered for a nice meal in The Tontine 13 of us. Food was excellent, service was good in the restaurant. My only issue is that one of the girls was a little snarky about our party moving into the bar area as it was a bit busy Sunday night. However, we all managed to claim a space and continue our night with a few drinks as we were leaving each other the next morning. This is the second time I have felt that a large party is an inconvenience in Scotland. In New York and other places in the U.S. it doesn't seem to be a problem. It doesn't seem to be good business practice. If we had come as 3 parties of four+1 or 13 together we should be treated the same as any other paying customer.

We go here quite often, but we like to sit in the lounge. We're vegetarian so they have options that suit us both (we have different favourites - Macaroni Cheese, and Veggie Burger). We probably go to the Tontine every couple of weeks. The lounge has a wider menu than the restaurant but is less formal. It suits us due to the menu. Can get busy though. The food is much better in the last year or so than it was a few years ago when it was just passable. Their macaroni truly has improved to my satisfaction! :P

We occasionally also just pop in for a glass of wine.
