The location is excellent for the western hills of Arran, though as the island is small, nowhere is very far away. It's about a mile from Blackwaterfoot, useful for small shops and places to eat out. We were a party of five adults who spent most of our short break out on the hills, but the chalet would also be suitable for families with children as it sits on a site off the main road which has enough outside space to be suitable for playing safely. The chalet is well equipped, with two bathrooms (one an en suite shower room) and plenty of hot water, useful when coming back cold and wet! It was also lovely and warm, very welcome on a cold Easter weekend.
Property was all we could ask for. Very well equipped has everything you need and more. Owner very helpful and kept us well informed.
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here in December along with our dog. Alan provided useful step by step directions from the ferry prior to arrival which meant we could easily find the lodge. It was only us staying however it is amply size for more people to stay with 3 bedrooms (2 double rooms and 1 suitable for children), an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area, a main bathroom and 1 en-suite it is ideal for families. Perfect location to travel around the island which was handy. As we arrived just after Christmas it was a nice touch that Christmas decorations were up and the owners had even left us a nice card and gift!
Will be back and definitely recommend.
Three of us stayed here over new year. The weather was cold, wet and windy but the house was warm and cosy and we could watch the weather changing over the hills. Great views. Everything you could possibly need is provided and the TV is great! The stay was well organised in advance and Allan kept in touch while we were there. Would definitely recommend.
The location near the west coast of Arran at the end of The String road was excellent for getting anywhere on the island quickly, especially Brodick for supplies.
The lodge is located among a collection of similar properties, but well spread out, quiet and with private parking right outside. For two of us there was masses of room. The TV has surround sound, but we didn't use it much.
There's plenty to see on Arran for a week - the highlight for us was a RiB trip to Ailsa Craig with Ocean Breeze RiB Tours. Highly recommended.
Location of the lodge in Blackwaterfoot was great. There were lovely walks to the beach and local hotel within minutes. Other places on the island easily reached. The lodge is very well equipped and you could cook and eat in if you wished. Bedrooms comfortable and excellent showers in bathroom and en suite.
