I was at 2 different weddings in May and both were fantastic days but that was down to the bride, groom and guests not to the venue....

The staff who served the meal were very unhappy, unhelpful and rude. The bars were under stocked for the first wedding running out of a lot of drink choices and the second wedding running out of glasses (I was at the bar when I man ordered a whisky and he was served it in a tall half pint glass)

I know both brides provided information for the wedding day for the set up of tables and present etc to be handed out at the meal and these were not looked at.

Favours on the first wedding were done wrong, children's gifts were given to the hotel to be placed on the tables, which they never did meaning head bridesmaid and mother of the bride had to do during the meal.

The flowers to be given to the mother of the bride and groom at the speeches the staff didn't know where they were, also a present to the grooms sister as a thank you was no where to be seen....leaving the groom slightly embarrassed during his speech.

There is no air conditioning in the room that we were in for the meal and dance. Leaving people very hot and uncomfortable and a lot of people spent a lot of time outside getting fresh air and cooling down, which should not happen at a wedding!!!

I know that both parties accidentally left items in their room. After calling the hotel and going up to the hotel to check these item were no where to been seen!!!! So double, triple check your room before leaving!!!

Overall, if you want your day to be perfect....I wouldn't book here to have a wedding! Spend that little more and go somewhere where they will respect and treat you right on the day and after the wedding. As from what I have heard from the brides the aftercare here is shocking and don't care as they have your money....

First impressions were 60's hotel with aluminium windows. However easy to find and plenty of parking and just outside town. Reception ok on check in but did not tell me about restaurant or where bar was etc or about the pool, gym etc.
Room was a single room and was dated and small. Bathroom was also small and dated with very small shower only.
Ordered room service which took an hour. The soup was supposed to come with a crusty roll. However the only roll was already inside the onion soup.
The tray charge of £7.95 is a rip off. I stay away twice a week and never paid more than £5 and usually less than that.
The bed creaked a lot but the pillows were comfy. Noise from outside the room was loud and you could hear the room next to you very easily.
wi-fi did not work at first but reception re-set and then was ok.
I would probably not stay again due to the room I had and the food issue.

Stayed for one night in June as attending a family event in Lossiemouth. Hotel is located just north as you exit Elgin heading towards Inverness and is only a short taxi ride back to the town centre. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful, giving precise directions to our room and also how we could contact a local taxi firm.

Our room was on the first floor overlooking the front door and car park. The room itself was bright and airy, with extra pillows provided and a small flatscreen tv, a nice touch to the tea tray was the highland shortbread biscuits.

Some minor complaints (if you can call them that). The window had no screen or blinds, meaning you had to close the curtains for privacy which meant a very dark bedroom as there was no main overhead light, there is also no full length mirror.

Slightly tired looking bathroom which could do with some TLC, but everything was spotlessly clean. Again, minor complaint in that there is nowhere suitable to put a soap/makeup bag. The very narrow glass shelf under the mirror already had glasses and hospitality toiletries upon it, but even when removed we couldn't fit a toiletry bag on it, without it falling into the sink.

We didn't stay for dinner nor breakfast, but did have a drink in the bar while we waited on our taxi. Bar is laid out over a couple of floors, with the bar on a mezzanine floor and additional seating at the front door. Typical hotel prices for drinks, with an impressive whiskey selection.

Overall a pleasant stay, will definately return again to sample both the food and spa facilities as I have read excellent reviews about the restaurant.

Room Tip: Id imagine the rooms to rear of hotel would be quieter. Ones to front overlook the carpark and main entrance.

I have previously written this same review, but following the 'lovely' hotel manager replying and calling me a liar (even though over 100 guests from the wedding can confirm how true this review is) and my review then being reported and deleted, I decided to repost it, and I have also appealed to TripAdvisor, as I believe the truth should be known.

I attended the hotel in May this year for a wedding, and was disgusted with the behaviour and attitudes of the staff, as well as the poor quality food.

The bride had spent years planning her perfect day, and the hotel let her down completely.

There was a complete lack of communication between staff and nobody seemed to no what was happening. They didn't set out the favours as requested by the bride, so the bridesmaids and the brides mother had to leave there starters to hand them out.

The meal was poor quality, stale bread, cold food, dry chicken etc!!

No toast drinks were given out to the top table although these were paid for, so they were left with empty glasses for the toast.

During the speeches, the flowers for the parents weren't handed over, and only after about 5 minutes did somebody decide to let the groom no the location of these.

The arrival drinks that were left over were seen to be taken back behind the bar and then RESOLD!

The bar ran out of many different drinks by about 2230, so clearly they hadn't thought of adequately stocking the bar.

Overall, the wedding was a fantastic day, but this was down to the bride and groom and their guests, and had nothing to do with the hotel and it's rude, incompetent and disinterested staff.

We are just back from a long weekend break at Eight Acres Hotel. Let me first give the good points. Lovely setting for this Hotel and the food was excellent apart from breakfast the first morning, more about that in a moment. The bedroom was small but clean and tidy and fit for purpose but window frames need a good clean. Service from one receptionist was really good (foreign girl), the rest of the staff take note and learn from her. Now for the not so good points. The dining room staff really need training and if their is a restaurant manager then he or she should take a trip to their sister hotel in Inveraray and see how it should be done. We found it unacceptable on the first night, when we had already reserved a table for dinner, to be told that we would have a bit of a wait as there was a coach tour party who had just arrived. The same applied the following morning only this time we were told it was a buffet breakfast, which was never replenished the whole time we sat having our cold scrambled egg. This is just not good enough. Finally with such beautiful grounds surely someone could have gone out and picked up the empty beer bottle that sat near the front door from Friday and was still there when we left on Monday . Please get a grip and try a more friendly attitude with your paying guests.

Room Tip: If you have a disability or cannot walk too far ask for a room near the reception.
