Having had a most enjoyable stay last year we returned to the Mansion House on a weekend business trip. Whereas the hotel retained is historical and attractive features, the whole experience was somewhat lacklustre on this occasion. The bar was poorly staffed and stocked. We had to seek out bar staff on two occasions, they ran out of our selected wine on the second evening and one of our glasses was definitely dusty. Having previously enjoyed our dining experience in the dining room, we were escorted to the 'Bistro' on our last evening. A cold and unwelcoming room on a split level with little or no atmosphere, character... or indeed, other diners. The venue continues to be very good but, on this occasion, we felt that, as far as the service was concerned, somebody has taken their eye off the ball. Overall, a disappointing return experience.

Thank you for your recent review. We are very disappointed to learn that your recent stay did not meet the expectations of your last one. "The Wee Bar" is really just a feeder bar as we serve most of our drinks to guests in the lounge area, so this is why there is not a member of staff permanently behind it, although you should not have had to seek out staff as our receptionist who is opposite should have attended to you but must have been busy, apologies that you did not receive more prompt service. We will do our utmost in the future to make sure this does not occur again. With regards to the wine, we do not stock a huge amount of each bin number due to the large selection of wines on our menu, we had a few guests requesting the same wine that evening and unfortunately ran out. We were pleased that you were still able to rate us at 4. We hope that you may return to the hotel sometime in the future.

We attended a wedding at the beginning of May. Booked in on the Friday night (had reserved a twin room) and couldn't believe it when we discovered that the twin beds were both four posters. Lush!! Bathroom was modern (look recently refurbished). The spa / swimming pool area left a bit to be desired, in that it was a bit shabby but; nevertheless, we took advantage of the sauna and pool and went back to the room to shower. All the food there we ate was wonderful (hot and plenty of it). BUT what really made this hotel special were the staff - every person we encountered was super polite, friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble, so 5/5 for them. We would definitely stay there again, and if the spa / pool area was sorted out you just couldn't fault the place.

Room Tip: We were in room 22, which is located on the ground floor and has french doors straight out onto a pa...

The staff were friendly and helpful, giving tips on where to go and what to go. Had a lovely, spacious room with comfy four poster bed and a modern bathroom. Thoroughly enjoyed our break. The food in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner was very good, but was a bit disappointed in the Brasserie - food was just OK, but it was definitely lacking in atmosphete.

Room Tip: We had a standard room, and was very pleasantly surprised at the high standard.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your time here, we are sorry to hear that you were a little disappointed with the bistro menu, coincidentally it has just changed at the beginning of this week. Hopefully you may return soon to sample our new menu.

Had a sleigh bed room which was fantastic. Very comfortable with all finishing of a very high quality. The reception staff were excellent and helpful. ( waiting staff at breakfast were very pleasant but poorly trained). Breakfast was delicious - did not have dinner but I'm sure it would be of a high standard too. Please however do not book this hotel based on the pool & spa area..........it actually should be shut down. I was disappointed beyond belief that a hotel of this standard felt they could charge the rates they do and expect guests to accept the disgusting state of this area. Such a shame as this really lets this beautiful hotel down.

Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay. We are disappointed with your comments regarding our Leisure Facilities, we have the strictest cleanliness policy, which is checked monthly by the local authority. We realise that there are some areas that require some maintenance but other that that we think that the facilities are adequate and are in line with our star rating.

Stayed here with my fiance on Saturday night. We had booked a superior room which was magnificent, the awesome sleigh bed was massive and we both had the best nights sleep ever. Wondeful deep bath and great shower too. There was a very large wedding on that day, which we were told about. Their function ran until 02.30am and I have to say we were not disturbed once by any noise at all. Dinner was magnificent, couldn't fault the food in any way. Breakfast was good but I fear we were served by the night porter who told us no staff had arrived yet, but acted in a totally professional way. Now breakfast commences at 08.00 and we were served at 08.15 so where was the chef? Overall excellent service and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We were in Room 16 (14,15 & 17) all of these were at the back of hotel and really quiet, ours ha...

Thank you for posting a review regarding your recent stay. Thank you so much for your lovely comments we are delighted to hear that you had a lovely time. Apologies for any confusion at breakfast, the Night Porter is a qualified chef who cooks at weekends and the waiting staff were not actually meant to be in until 8.30am as it is usually very quiet first thing on a weekend breakfast and the Night Porter/Chef was meant to be serving you up till then. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We bought diamond package through balance the body salon for a gift for my mum and aunts birthdays, they said it was excellent and were treated like queens, the bedroom was beautiful, the food was great and the treatments in the salon were excellent, I would highly recommend!

Just one night at this hotel although I wish it could have been much longer.

Approaching the hotel you are met with this wonderful building that would not look out of place ona film set.

Check in was simple and I was shown to the room by the receptionist, a good sized room with a huge TV a very welcoming room after a long day of travel.

Although I did not eat dinner in the restaurant I did visit the bar and there is a great selection of whisky available and I would recommend one of the many Speysides on offer.

One thing I will always remember about this hotel ia the breakfast. ....all I can say is wow! None of the usual breakfast buffet you find at other hotels, this was cooked to order and was amazing.

Would I recommend The Mansion House? Yes I would, a great hotel in a great location with exceptional staff. ..what more could you want?
