We visited with my mother who was very interested to see the place that produces her scarves!

The tour is free and the guide very knowledgable, you get to go around all the main factory buildings following the process from the very start to the finishing house. There is also a short video which is very good.

The shop is filled with quality products and has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Unless you have a lot of money though you may find yourself just looking in awe at the majority of the products.

The cafe is very pleasant with good quality food and great service. All in all well worth a visit and very interesting to see how the products you see in the shop are actually made.

Not sure why people review the coffee shop - but for me the highlight was the tour of this modern working cashmere and wollen mill where you can see and understand the process to turn raw cashmere into desirable garments. You can also understand why it is expensive - the Cashmere is wonderfully soft, warm and light. Check out the shop afterwards - they have a great selection of clothes for men, women and children. - and I dare say, if you have time, have a coffee!

I have visited the cafe n several occasions the food is excellent and I would certainly recommend the prawns! Real prawns and full of flavour, great with the baked potato! Tea selection is great and the cakes are so more-ish. Well worth a trip if you are nearby at lunchtime!

I haven't taken the tour, but the other facilities at this location are excellent. The cafe offers an interesting, if sometimes a bit pricey, choice of snacks and meals. Probably Elgin's best drop-by and in-house restaurant. The adjoining gift shop offers an entertaining and ecletic range of souvenir or present ideas. And, of course, Johnstons' clothing items are deservedly renowned world-wide.

One of our favourite coffee stops in Hawick, lovely shop for browsing and 'dreaming', short film on the knitwear industry and excellent large coffee shop/restaurant. Lovely cakes and tasty lunches, our top selection for yesterday was the club sandwich - delicious!! Christine, one of the staff, is a star - professional, cheery every visit, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Top marks to her.
