“Fantastic”
Reviewed 1 week ago for a stay in June 2018

We've just had the most spectacular week in this motorhome. From the instant the company bailed us out of a hole after we were let down by another company, service and communication has been excellent.
Andrea is always quick to respond to any queries and extremely helpful.
The motorhome itself was fabulous. Perfectly clean and well equipped. We were given a comprehensive run through prior to leaving but Andrea was always at the end of the phone should any further issues arise.
It ran well, was easy to drive and park, and was the perfect home for 2 adults and 2 very excited little boys for the week.
Storage was good, although we admittedly packed way too much for the week as all of the sites we visited had laundry facilities on site. In my defence however, it is hard to know what to pack for 2 little boys for a week in the north is Scotland! Shorts and wellies in one day!
We couldn't praise Caledonian Motorhome Hire enough and can safely say we've caught the bug. Would definitely recommend.

“best holiday ever”
Reviewed 2 weeks ago for a stay in May 2018

When planned this trip I did a lot of web search to find a motorhome to hire, finally I chose this one among many, and I've been very satisfied with my election. This was our first motorhome experience, we are a family of five with three kids of 7,5 and 2, we fit perfectly inside it and driving it was easier than we expected. It was equipped with all what we needed, and the communication with Andrea was excellent. I definitely recommend it.

“A great holiday”
Reviewed 3 weeks ago for a stay in May 2018

This was our first time away in a motor home. The booking process was easy and we had great communication from Andrea, especially at the handover, when there was lots of info to give us. The motor home was really comfortable and lots of clever use of storage and space and great to drive. We loved the freedom of travelling around and would definitely recommend this type of holiday and Caledonian Tourers for a really friendly and reliable experience.

“Caledonian Tours”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago for a stay in May 2018

We started our trip off in Perth, picking up a Swift 6 Birth Camper. We were excited to say the least.

It was then that we noticed a few discrepancies with the camper it’s self. Don’t get me wrong, it was spacious and tidy, but we got the feeling that it hadn’t been properly tidied or clean since the last people had returned it.

First of which, was the passenger side mirror. This was taped up, like a brief repair had taken place. This made us worry, 1. Would monuvuring the camper we as easy with a dodgy mirror and 2. Had this damage been reported since the last hire (bearing in mind we paid a £500 Damage Deposit).

The second, slight worry, was the fridge. Nothing major, however there were no shelves in the door for the likes of Eggs, Milk, Bottled Water. These would have been helpful and convenient but it wasn’t a problem.

Communication was a hassle. We were asked to provide certain documents for insurance purposes and for the details of the hire. This was not a problem. The back and forth between the owner and the hassle of responses. For example, we sent an emailed the owner asking “Have you received the paper work and copies of photographic I.D?” The response we got was, “No, sorry”. This was disappointing as this didn’t feel professional and was not helpful.

There was two gas bottles available, and on the phone we were informed we’d have at least 1 full tank. We were given 1/4 of a tank. Not enough to do us our 4/5 days.

We also had a problem with the rear tail light. This had been taped also and we were worried that it was going to attract attention of the authorities or possibly stop working.

These weren’t major problems, nothing to be bothered with as we had a fantastic time with the camper on our little drive around the northern part of Scotland.

The only reason, that these small problems were mentioned in this review, was due to the final part of our trip. The return of the camper.

We dropped the camper off earlier than requested, as the only drop of points were 11am or 4pm. We dropped at around 10:30 to allow time for any paper work if necessary. This was on the Friday.

Prior to this, we cleaned the entire van from top to bottom and filled it to the brim with diesel. We left it cleaner than we found it.

We then dropped the camper off and went on our way.

We then got a phone call on Sunday morning, 2 days after dropping the camper off, to tell us that we had not filled the camper with enough fuel.

The owner said she never had enough time to fill the van which had caused an inconvenience for the hire going out on Monday. We were then deducted £8 from our deposit for the lack of diesel left in the camper.

I know it is only £8 but is more the principle. We left the van in a very clean state, and brimmed with fuel for the next hire and we were willing to over look the small issues.

To then be decucted a minimal cost for this seems a little petty.

All in all a good trip but the experience dealing with the company was inadequate and annoying. Afraid to say, I won’t be back.

Thank you for taking the time to give a lengthy review. We are disappointed find out that your experience with Caledonian Tourers was a negative one. This was a surprise for us since at no point did you bring any of the above mentioned to our attention before, during or after hire. We welcome feedback from customers to enable us to improve the service we provide.

I understand you were extremely upset when I called to say the diesel tank was not full of diesel. You assured us that you filled it up in Pitlochry, however from Pitlochry to Scone there would have been diesel used. We like to ensure that the tank is full for every customers convenience and this is what we agree in our terms and conditions. Therefore it takes additional time for us to go to the service station to fill the remainder of the tank if it is short of full. The damage report states that there will be a £20 refuelling penalty that we wavered. The next hirer was due to collect the motorhome 10 minutes after I called you and we had no time to take it to the service station, which then impacts on our next customer.

Unfortunately when a repair is required to our motorhome we have to purchase the parts from Swift and if there is a holdup through any stages of the process we are then held up with repairing, which is the case in your circumstance. We have to take temporary measures to ensure we do not let customers down.

When the motorhome goes out on hire customers have in the gas bottle what is left from previous hire and it is then up to the customers to replace the bottle when it is empty. Sometimes customers will receive a full bottle, half bottle or a quarter bottle. At no point did we say there would be a full gas bottle as we do not know what will be in the bottle.

With regards to the cleanliness of the motorhome, we would have to disagree. We take pride in our motorhome and we would not let it go out on hire being nothing short of immaculate.

We try our best to be flexible with our pickup and drop off times and try and accommodate our customers as best we can. Bearing in mind we have a young family and have other responsibilities to take into consideration.

We don’t feel it is fair for you to comment on our communication as we have communicated with your daughter regularly since November 2017 about your hire since this was given to you as a gift.

We appreciate your feedback as we always look to improve the service we provide to our customers. We can only apologies for the repairs needed on the motorhome but it was out with our control.

“What's not to love about Spontaneity?”
Reviewed 10 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

This was our first Motor-home experience and the best bit was not needing to plan ahead and going a bit more with the flow, I'm not sure if it will be possible in the height of the summer but in April it was possible.
The van was good for the two adults and two children but not sure how six people would get on, we did develop better tidy skills and anti rattle strategies as the week went on. I did cook every evening for four and the fridge and freezer is huge, the gas hob was great, it all worked.
Andrea was very accommodating and let us deliver the van back on the night before (8pm) as the 10am drop off the following day was a challenge too far as the van had to be cleaned before return. It was a good experience the van was fit for purpose and Andrea gave a very personal service and made it as easy as possible to meet out time lines.

“Scotland's NC500 in a motor home.”
Reviewed 8 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

We decided to travel the NC500 in a motor home rental and after much internet searching came across Caledonian Tourers. After comparing all aspects we decided to make a booking with them and happily we feel we made a great choice.
Very helpful from the first contact up until our pick up time in Perth. Being novices we were in need of as much advice and help as possible and Andrea provided this.
Everything was explained to us at the pick up and our car was safely stored at the secure lock up for the duration of our fabulous trip..
If you are considering motor home rental to travel the NC500 look no further than Caledonian Tourers for excellent price and service.

Me and my boyfriend hired from Caledonian tourers for 6 days and couldn’t have been happier! From the beginning Andrea was so lovely and helpful.
We had never driven a motorhome and were a bit apprehensive but Andrea explained everything clearly and was available for questions when we were travelling.
The motorhome itself is lovely and spacious. It was perfect to travel the coast of beautiful Scotland :)
