Description: Tim & Anna Dover work together at the restaurant, Anna is in charge of table service and Tim exercises his skills as Head Chef in the kitchen, and in his words..."My wife and I opened the Roost Restaurant in the village of Kintillo near Bridge of Earn, just outside Perth, in the summer of 2008. Five years on the restaurant is firmly established in the area and we are known for our extensive use of Scottish ingredients, which I prepare in the classical French style that I have learnt in kitchens at home and abroad throughout my career. We are proud of the strong relationships we have developed with Scottish food and drink suppliers and always produce a locally sourced, sustainable and seasonal menu. Our dedication doesn't end in the kitchen as we enjoy fishing and foraging for our own ingredients - including wild garlic, alexanders and chanterelles - many of which appear on the menus throughout the year. But nothing is more sustainable than our new kitchen garden that features vegetables and herbs used in the restaurant. Throughout the summer months we are able to use our own supply of herbs, salads and vegetables such as potatoes, chard, baby carrots, beetroots, leeks, broad beans and purple sprouting broccoli while flowers are also grown for the restaurant."

We recently visited for a lunch, booking at very short notice. The ambience of this small restaurant is charming, as are the staff. The meal was excellent quality and very good value. We will certainly return and are keen to try the dinner menu. Highly recommended

We stopped at The Roost by happy chance on our way through Perth and were perhaps underdressed for this lovely hidden away spot.
The hand-made gnocchi and the wood pigeon salad made a transatlantic trip worth while.
The happy recipient of the soup felt it eased her back into the land of the living after zombie jet lag.
Only the liver and onions failed to thrill.
The service was thoughtful, attentive, and friendly. The decor was simple and blessedly screen free.
Very fine.

Lovely place to go just out of Perth and makes you want to keep going back, great value at lunch time and top drawer dining in the evening. Not the cheapest place for dinner, but brilliant food cooked by Tim. Well worth it in our book. Lovely restaurant setting and smart service.

Fabulous food, beautifully presented and the service attentive but unobtrusive. A couple of the party mentioned that there didn't seem to be very much venison on the plate for the £24 price tag (hence the 'very good' not 'excellent'). It is pricey but it was a special occasion so we were happy to pay the premium to make sure we weren't disappointed.

Food wasn't bad but not good enough to merit the steep prices, had far better meals for less. I don't mind paying £100 for a meal if I can walk away feeling it was worth it but this just doesn't cut the prices charged. Good food, not much atmosphere, waitress was pleasant but i think if they reduced the prices in line with others of similar quality, they would be busier.
