Had a fantastic 2 night stay here. Was a bit dubious after reading the reviews, but the majority were about the decor and need of updating, so we decided to go for it as we wanted a central location. Perfect for parking at the rear entrance; staff were extremely friendly & very helpful, even finding out reviews for restaurants we were thinking of going to; our room was on a corner so was absolutely huge!!; bathroom was also large and modern; room had little corner round room in the turret(just had a basic table and 2 chairs but would love to see this space utilised...could be a fantastic little cosy nook with window seat cushions, nice lighting etc!); had breakfast delivered one morning, and eat in dining room the next, plenty choice on menu and food was lovely. Yes, the hotel could do with being refreshed but its a huge job...what had been done already was lovely...the new garden bar..and the restaurant was fresh looking. But everything was still clean and tidy and we had no complaints. Would definately use the hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for the corner room!! And go for the executive double which includes breakfast in the price....s...

We have just had a weekend at The Station Hotel, Perth. Not sure what to expect after reading some recent reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room we had (34) was recently refurbished and was very clean with a separate bathroom which also was very clean and big. The use of cheap plastic cups in the bathroom spoiled the image, better plastic or glass would have been better.
The evening menu was very good with a nice choice and no extra price for supplements. The breakfast was served rather than a buffet for your main course, there was plenty of choice for continental and also a huge bowl of fresh fruit. Unfortunately we had a bit of a wait for our cooked breakfast as it appeared that is was served to a different table, but we were not in a hurry to go anywhere, just as well!! But we had a laugh...
The staff were also very pleasant with plenty of help if you required assistance, and we were able to leave our luggage until we were leaving later in the day.
The hotel is what you see, it’s old but is being refurbished and has loads of character, and it has a beautiful staircase and also a lift, which isn’t mentioned on the website, the lift that is. There is also a garden bar with a lovely grassy area and you forget you are next to the station. We visit Perth on many occasions and would not have a problem booking this hotel again.
It’s not really Fawlty Towers...

This hotel is in a great location, staffed by polite and efficient staff but is a very tired hotel.

We were upgraded to a very large room which did not have much in it! But was clean

All was fine for one night but when compared to a premier inn it really needs some investment.

Unfortunately the hotel needs some major updating. The staff were very friendly and upon arrival. I was told we had been upgraded to a better room. I'm not sure what the upgrade was because the mattress was horrible (we could feel the metal springs) the pillows were lumpy and someone else's room vented into our bathroom giving us the smell of cigarette smoke in our room. I guess that is why our bathroom window was open when we arrived. Also the foot of the bed was higher than the head making it impossible to sleep. The hotel has the potential to be a grand place with it's lovely architecture but right now I would not recommend this place until the rooms are renovated.

Very well priced, centrally located hotel.

Staff were friendly. Rooms modern, clean and have everything you need for a short stay.

The gardens were lovely to sit outside and have a drink in the sunshine.

Arrived here late at night, needed a bed to sleep for a few hours. Greeted upon arrival by a friendly member of staff, who did not really know what he was doing, but nevertheless very keen to be helpful. Was given a room key and directed to my room. Place has a very old run down vibe, is in need of a serious upgrade, carpets look over 50 years old. Was given a double room, which was very clean and had all the basic amenities. Bathroom was disappointing, tired and not very clean, stains on the towel. Speaking to the staff, the hotel is currently undergoing a renovation, only half of the rooms have been upgraded. Great location, next to the train station, approximately 50 yards away and share the same car park. Would recommend if staying to ask for one of the upgraded rooms.
