My Husband and I stayed at this Hotel for one night. 7/1/12. After a lovely night out with friends, We returned back to the Hotel, to be met with a warm, friendly welcome at Reception. Had a few drinks in the lounge , served by lovely cheery staff, our room was spotless and the breakfast was superb, again, served by lovely, friendly, efficient staff. We will stay at the Salutation Hotel in Perth again.

Many, many thanks for such a positive review. Yes that room has been redecorated along with other as part of our winter redecoration schedule. These rooms are certainly nicely decorated now. I am glad you found the staff to be helpful and friendly aand I also note you found the breakfast to be spot on. The hotel indeed enjoys an excellent town centre location which is favoured by many guests.
Once again many thanks for your time and we all look forward to welcoming you back.

After 5 Hogmany breaks at the Salutation this year was once again outstanding or it even surpassed the previous years excellence. The points that make this hotel first class are the very friendly and welcoming reception staff, the expert and attentive dining room staff, the very accommodating bar staff most of them have been there from our first stay. The chefs prepare the most gourmet meals and there is no shortage of supply where eating is concerned. The music at the dinner dances during the 3 evenings caters for all. I would put all this down to the enthusiasm and expert management of Mr Gordon Paterson who runs the hotel and who is dedicated to making guests and staff one big happy family and ensuring everybody is enjoying themselves. I really should not be telling you all this as it should be kept a secret in case the hotel is inundated with bookings but believe me if you do book at the Salutation you will not be disappointed. Congratulations Gordon and all the Staff.

Room Tip: The second floor is the one we always stay on.

Wow - what a fantastically enthusiastic and encouraging review. We do put a lot of planning and effort into the New Year Package to make it special break thats very memorable and yes all the staff make such an effort to ensure this quality is delivered to all our customers. Its all very much a team effort. We also try and put in something different and specail every New Year just to add a little bit class and a little bit more fun without changing the main body of the package. I would just like to thank you for the time you have taken to submit this review but also highlighting the staff, food and entertainment.
We do look forward to seeing you all soon.
Kind regards

I am a member of our local cardiac exercise class and this year we had the good fortune to have our Christmas party in the Salutation Hotel, Perth. I have been to every celebration in the last 5 years but this one was by far the best. The room was tastefully decorated for Christmas, a welcoming glass of champagne was waiting for us. The staff were professional and so friendly, the food was piping hot and appetising. All 61 of us enjoyed it so much that we booked for next year on the spot.

I recently stayed In the Salutation Hotel with a friend while traveling around scotland and ireland. I spend two nights and found it very pleasant. I chose the hotel because i had heard it was the oldest in Scotland and i'm always partial to places with a past. The hotel was easily found in the center of town, with two full sized statues of charming kilted soldiers making it hard to miss! There was a plaque outside giving a little history of the hotel, apparetly some royal chap stayed there a couple of hundred years ago or something along those lines! On the first floor they had some more boards giving details of the hotels past and famous people (although "famous" may be a stretch in some cases) that had previously stayed. The room was nice and cosy and the breakfast was wonderful. A full cooked breakfast was availably at a self service buffet. Usually i am a little put off by buffet style meals but this was great, plenty to chose from, the food appeared to be on a hot surface and was being heated with heat lights so was hot, and it seemed to be frequently topped up as when i went up for my second helping there seemed to be lots of fresh food again, no cold beans and rock hard eggs! The chef actually made me poached eggs to order as that's what i prefer, which i though was nice as it was busy at the time. The service in the restaurant was snappy and friendly and the buffet had authentic scottish haggis which i had wanted to try!

In short, I found it an all round pleasant Scottish experience and now I can say I have stayed in the oldest Hotel in Scotland, and probably one of the oldest in the western world considering how ancient Scotland is itself! I will most likely stay here again if I find myself back in Scotland.
