Just back from three days in Perth and stayed at the very impressive Salutation Hotel which is right in the centre of town and close to all amenities. The staff were outstandingly cheery and helpful, the building had bags of character and at £29 per night for a single room ensuite, you couldn’t fault the value for money. I particularly loved the breakfast room which was vast and had the most amazing window and view with a good self-service breakfast thrown in. My room was small but comfortable and warm, the floors squeaked a lot but in a building which dates from 1699 what would you expect? I loved the rabbit warren corridors and the unconventional layout of the building. If you want to spend a whole lot more money and stay in a uniform box, don’t choose the Salutation but if you want a more authentic experience right in the middle of town at a good price, then I’d recommend this place to anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to post such a heart warming review - I am glad you found our 313 year old hotel to have bags of charm and character. The restaurant is indeed a splendid room and I am pleased to read that you found all the staff to be cheery and helpful. I also note you found the hotel good value and the breakfast to your satisfaction - we are always trying ways of improving the breakfast and will soon be addind a range of locally produced products.
Once again many thanks.

Had a good cheep weekend at the hotel. the receptionists on arrival was very polite and efficient, the room was very warm and clean temperature could be adjusted to suit yourself, beds made up every day, used towels were changed daily, tea and coffee was replenish daily. good choice of food at breakfast and plenty off it. evening meals were also very good with main course carved fresh, complementary bottle of wine was excellent. Barman was pleasant and courteous and the prices weren't too bad.
The Black Watch Museum is well worth a visit when you are here.
No bad points about the hotel.

We spent a long weekend at the Salutation Hotel for our anniversary. It is a lovely old hotel with some wonderful public & function rooms. We had a great room; it must have been a family room as it had a double bed and two single beds as well as two lazy boy chairs, a coffee table, dressing table/chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and large TV. It was quite a big room and even with the furniture felt very spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was good and the supper carvery was good too with plenty of options.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you want a quiet room. The rooms at the front will face the busy main road. The hotel doesn't have its own carpark, but there is a secure multi story car park a 5 minute walk away.

Yes the room you were staying in was recenty refurbished to a really high standard and we put in a few extras to make it that bit more special. I do appreciate all the nice remarks you have made about the food and the staff too.

Fantastic vfm. Very helpful staff. Excellent food, with varied choices for the coeliac diet (gluten free), including a marvellous surprise at breakfast when Gluten free toast arrived!! This is extremely rare and much appreciated. We visited this hotel 3 weeks in advance to do a "recce" and were given 3 sets of keys to examine the standard of the rooms and choose which one we would like. We also benefitted from an even better offer for DBB than the internet offer which brought us here in the first place. All round a very happy and satisfying experience.

Many thanks for such a kind and positive review and I am pleased to note you found our range of Gluten Free Products to be more than satisfactory - we really do try and make an effort for as many dietary requirements as possible. I am also pleased that you had a wee tour of the bedrooms before deciding on the room you really liked.
Once again many thanks.
