When we were in Perth we stayed in the Sunbank Hotel, which is a lot like an old house. Our room was craped, no water pressure and the internet didn't work. Staff not overly friendly. It was within walking distance of Downtown.

We normally stay in larger hotels when we travel but we booked the Sunbank after reading some of the reviews on here and we were so glad we did. It was a cracking find and definitely somewhere we will return to.

The room was warm, spacious, comfortable and clean - exactly what you want from any hotel. The bathroom was fairly large and was spotless. We were at the front of the hotel and did not notice any noise from traffic outside.

We arrived at 8.00pm, tired after a long journey. Remo was more than happy to prepare a meal from the main menu for us and serve it in our room. What a meal it was! The food was exquisite with good portion sizes and would have been worth the stay in the hotel alone. Breakfast was equally good and served with a beaming smile.

If you are looking for genuine value for money without having to compromise on quality then this is the place to go.

My son and I stayed in this wonderful hotel for two nights. We needed a short stay in Perth but somewhere comfortable, spacious and central to local facilities. The Sunbank fulfilled all our needs. The staff, in particular John, were more than accomodating and looked after our every need, thank you John....... I would like also to mention how lovely our rooms were, we had the most beautiful views over the River Tay and the beds were made with fresh cotton sheets, so very rare anywhere.

Room Tip: Take a front room.

This small hotel is 15 minutes on foot from the centre of Perth, which can be easily reached by a footbridge alongside the railway line, avoiding the main road bridge.
A very friendly and efficient reception and general service from the owners and their staff. Our room was at the back of the hotel and therefore perhaps quieter than those closer to the main road (although the hotel is set back some way from the that road). The room was a little cramped but adequately furnished (those at the front may be somewhat larger). Both the room and the bathroom were very clean.
The breakfasts were extremely good - both a range of (healthy) starters, including excellent muesli and fruit salad, and perfectly cooked main courses, with lovely kippers and eggs. The hotel does also serve dinner to residents but, because of prior commitments, we were unable to sample these - no reason to believe that they would not be equally good.
There is adequate parking and fast free wifi.

We were made to feel extremely welcome by all persons on duty on arrival and at every interaction thereafter. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was good and good value too.

Everything about the stay was good, cannot fault anything at all.

Another reviewer commented on the furniture in the dining room having lost its support, this is true but adds to the charm of the place. All furniture was in keeping with the age of the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location, but not far back from main road therefore road noise could be an issue for some. Just ask for a room at the back!

Three of us arrived en route from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. We couldn't get any accommodation in Aberdeen because of the oil and gas conference there and, booking late, the nearest we could find was Perth. I'm glad we did. Perth itself looked lovely and well worth exploring - perhaps another time. The welcome and service from Georgina and Remigio Zane were exceptional. One of our party was a light sleeper and so given a quiet room at the back of the hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The dinner was excellent - one of our party said her steak was the best she had had in ages. My lamb was delicious. We had to leave very early in the morning - far earlier than the normal breakfast service - and Remigio left food for us in the kitchen so we could help ourselves. In the event, he got up early and served us anyway! I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Light sleepers would do better at the back, but the noise on the road was not excessive.
