Description: Steeped in local history and set in the picturesque village of Pitcairngreen on the outskirts of Perth, the Pitcairngreen Inn, built as a coaching inn well over two hundred years ago, is still serving customers to this day. Today, Pitcairngreen Inn is a small country pub offering more than your average country fayre. Our snug and lounge offers a daily menu of local, fresh and seasonal food using some of Perthshire finest produce, reputed to be the best in the UK. We use all local suppliers and this includes our real ales and extensive range of malts. Owned by Nigel and Beverley Large, backed up by our excellent chef Calum, and bar staff Susie & Sam.

Just visited for the first time and couldn't fault it at all. We arrived just after 12 so were the only ones there but it didn't feel empty. We were given a very warm welcome and a good description of the local beers available.the food was excellent, especially the homemade soup and bread. Our 3 year old also felt very at home as the staff were so friendly. Will definitely be going back soon!

This modest little inn deserves far more publicity and praise than it is given. It is in a very pretty location and the interior is cosy and welcoming, makes me feel slightly patriotic! The staff treat you like old friends and are very attentive. The menu offers a perfect mixture of pub favourites such as scampi, steak, and haggis, as well as some more conventional dishes like southern fried chicken with blue cheese sauce and a salmon salad. The food was served fairly quickly and was well presented, hot, fresh and, most importantly, very tasty!

If you are looking for a satisfying evening meal in a quiet, romantic location, a friendly pub lunch in the sun, or a family meal with children, this is an ideal choice!

Six of us had walked from Perth so by the time we arrived here we were ready for a drink and a snack. The barman who attended us could not have been more helpful and was very informative about Scottish independence; he pointed out several things of which our Scottish friends were unaware! The sandwiches were excellent.

Welcome was very friendly, as usual. Southern-fried chicken in blue-cheese sauce with homemade chips was delicious, as was the macaroni-cheese with homemade chips. The location is delightful, especially on a sunny day like today.

If you're looking for a place to eat in the countryside that feels like a genuine inn, with some character, then you can't beat the Pitcairngreen Inn.

If you've only every eaten oven-chips you might struggle with the notion of chips with a bit of colour in them (previous review). This is what chips are actually supposed to look like.

Our classic bike club event started and finished here this year, and unlike weddings and other formal events, it presents the venue with the significant problem that we have little idea how many will turn up on the day, as it's so weather dependent. This was no problem to the staff at the Pitcairngreen, who provided coffee and bacon rolls before the start, and an excellent 2 course meal in the afternoon for the 40 or so entrants. My steak pie and roasted veg was very well prepared, and my companions were more than happy with their fish and rustic chips, and the veggie option, which, for a change, wasn't the ubiquitous insult of veggie lasagne, but a cauliflower cheese tart. We took the opportunity to eat outside in the sun, at the wooden picnic benches, which are peaceful enough, as the road is not busy. Excellent real ale on the pumps too. Overall, great food and drink, cheery service and a nice atmosphere.
