Scot Tares and his Skinny Tyres team are the real deal! No egos just a dedicated team helping every candidate to have fun while learning how to get the best out of their road cycling. A highly professional and understanding team not only coach you to reach your goal when cycling but actually inspire you to go beyond it and achieve what you may have thought beyond your reach before you cycled with Skinny Tyres!

“Great day out in Perthshire”
Reviewed 6 May 2012

I took part in the Skinny Tyres Etape training ride on Saturday 21st April. Great bunch of folk and the Skinny Tyres people were excellent. Lots of encouragement and advice (especially approaching the Logierait hill!), welcome snacks and an enjoyable lunch stop. I would recommend Skinny Tyres to anyone thinking of doing the Etape or indeed any other sportive. Its a great way to build your confidence. On the basis of this one day training ride I am now thinking of doing one of Skinny Tyres' other longer trips.

“Skinny tyres Pitlochry Etape warm up”
Reviewed 5 May 2012

Being unsure whether I could do the Etape or not, I decided to try the course with the help of Skinny Tyres.
The day was really well organised and very well communicated right from the very first conversant ion about booking to the links and networking advice I got after the ride.
Great care was taken to keep all the riders together in teams working together, helping each other and creating general banter and support throughout the ride.
The welcomed lunch break was absolutely spot on, with just the right food your need..and a doggy bag to go!
On
Completion of the ride back at Pitlochry everyone grouped together for 'snack injection' and a chat before dispersing, but it doesn't end there.
Skinny Tyres have helped me as a novice to gain links to local cycling groups and further prepare me for the Etape with advice and support links.

I will be returning, Etape or not, just for the crack and the lunch!

“Etape Training Weekend”
Reviewed 5 May 2012

Somewhat anxiously I signed up for a training weekend, having seen it advertised through the Caledonian Etape, which I had signed up for as a first encounter with sportives. The weekend was just fabulous! I was very lucky, not only with the service provided but the great crowd of folks I spent the weekend with.
What's special about Skinny Tyres?:
1. Good personal service and information prior to training weekend.
2. Great accomodation and all meals etc included, so all you need to worry about is the biking!
3. Vehicle support on rides, reducing the amount you have to carry and providing you with great reassurance during the ride (ofcourse you need to resist the urge to hop on board!)
4. The rides themselves prepare you well for the Etape, taking in breathtaking Perthshire scenery. Pace is set to manage the abilities of the group, and the group leaders impart hints and tips without making you feel in any way silly.

All in all a great weekend, and I will definitely be doing it again. Would recommend to anyone.
If you are not use of your riding ability would highly recommend speaking with Scot who will advise you on options for you.

“Excellent way to spend a Saturday”
Reviewed 5 May 2012

I knew about Scot Tares and Skinny Tyres for some time, but had never before taken part in one of their Etape Caledonia Day Training Rides.....but I wish I had!
I arrived at Escape Route ahead of time and was made very welcome and put at ease by all the Skinny Tyres staff who were leading the ride. I was in a smallish group of eight on Saturday the 21st April 2012, although a few were staying to do the whole weekend package and a bigger group of 16 was expected for the Sunday.
The pace was set to meet all abilities and whilst the weather could not be controlled the route was excellent.

Overall, I discovered a new road up Schehallion (better than the route up there that the Etape actually takes), learnt a great deal about nutrition and hydration to consider on the day of the event and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Great value and as close to professional tuition for this type of event as you can get. Give them a try.
