Owner description: Culture is at the very heart of Perth and Kinross. Artists, writers and musicians across the ages have found their inspiration here by the River Tay. Perth Museum and Art Gallery houses one of the oldest museum collections in the UK. Our changing exhibition programme explores the heritage and creativity of Perthshire - with a unique selection of art, natural history and archaeology on display to bring these stories to life. The venue also hosts contemporary touring exhibitions. A warm welcome is extended to all, with free activities in the galleries and an annual programme of events to support the exhibitions. The museum offers disabled access, parking nearby and a gift shop. We are open Monday - Saturday 10 am- 5 pm with Sunday opening April - October 10 am- 5 pm Admission is FREE.

A small but perfectly formed museum and art gallery, its a brilliant free attraction in the heart of perth city centre.
There are some lovely local history items and also special collections, Its a local attraction that I would def recommend a visit to.

This museum is quite nice for a quick visit. I had about half an hour to spare in Perth, and the museum was pleasant enough to pass the time in. There are numerous generic displays about Perth and the local area, as well as a large section about a recently excavated long boat found near Carpow. The highlight of the museum is probably actually the architecture, as the building is glorious from the outside and the foyer inside is very nice.

The museum did seem a bit outdated (given that it has recently been refurbished). The displays were still interesting, but their presentation was a bit lacking. I also felt the front-desk staff were quite rude, although the staff in the museum itself were perfectly nice.

Overall, this is probably worth a quick look if you have time to spare but it's much like other museums found in similar sized towns.
