It is true that you won't spend hours at the viewing area but it is always worth a visit if you are up in the area. We visit again and again - it is always the same view, but it different every time because of the weather. On a clear day you can see the grand Munro that is Schiehallion - you can't the miss the pyramid shaped mountain beyond Loch Tummel plus the mountains to the west of Rannoch Moor.
There has been a smooth sloping path up to the View for a long time now but it was renovated & re-routed earlier this year (not for the first time) and it appears much more wheelchair friendly now. When we visited earlier this month, visitors couldn't access the whole of the parking area because works were still ongoing but we were able to stop in the coach park area instead.
In the main holiday season, the shop and cafe are open - always worth a look in. There are plans afoot to upgrade these buildings too but I don't know when that will happen. The site is owned by the Forestry Commission.
