“Excellent new cafe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Visited here last year and the view itself is absolutely stunning so we thought we would have another look this year. We were very surprised to see the improved cafe, gift shop and other facilities. We had a coffee and a slice of cake before walking the short walk to the amazing view. This is also a nice place to visit if you're doing any of the Tayside walks, especially at Allean or Faskally.

“Spectacular view, but the area is over commercialised!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

Top 3 Pros:
1) The view is breath taking.
2) Ample parking.
3) Area was clean, accessible and easy to find.

Top 3 Cons:
1) Over commercialised.
2) Having to pay £2, essentially to look at the scenery, when similar quality views around Scotland are free.
3) Gift shop contains too many souvenirs aimed at tourists, instead of offering more local and environmental information for conservationists.

“Pretty view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We are very fortunate to have stayed on the opposite side of Loch Tummel and had seen the view point from the road on the other side and thought it would be nice to see what it was like.
We were surprised to find that we had to pay for the privilege of using the car park but thought that the attraction must be worth it. we took the walk up to the viewpoint, which was pretty, we stood and took pictures, then walked back down to look at the visitor centre. It seemed very commercial but aimed at children with little to interest adults.
We went into the café, intending to have lunch, but one look at the limited menu and sandwich choice had us hitting the road.
Very sorry to say we were disappointed by this visit.

“Stunning View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Staying nearby we I decided to take my son to see the view which I had last seen 20 years ago. It was fantastic. However for me, this is a place of contemplation and it was spoilt by noisy uncontrolled children. The on site visitor centre and cafe are great

The view is nice enough but certainly not the best in the area - try a drive through Glen Lyon - and the shop was poorly stocked with tourist tat. As for the cafe - nice building with a very good outside area but the food was very disappointing. I had one of their "Gourmet" sandwiches - smoked salmon with cream cheese and mixed leaves - but hardly "gourmet" quality with soggy bread, limp leaves, as thin a slice of smoked salmon as I've ever seen and an even thinner spread of cream cheese - and at nearly £6 vastly overpriced! We won't be going there again.
