Description: Fern Cottage Restaurant in the heart of Pitlochry is a firm favourite, both for local residents and visitors to Highland Perthshire. We are located as close as you can get to the heart of this picturesque Victorian town. Fern Cottage Restaurant offers a warm Highland welcome, truly tasty food and personal service for every customer. Our menus have an emphasis on flavour, the freshness of Scotlands' larder and a taste of the Mediterranean. There is now more than ever on offer with different menus at lunch and dinner times. Retaining much of the original ethos of using Scottish, seasonal ingredients to create dishes with a Mediterranean twist, our food is cooked to order and guarantees a treat for your taste-buds, whether a classic or a contemporary dish. Fern Cottage is now on winter hours. We will be open for lunches from 12noon with last orders at 2.15pm. We will re-open for pre-theatre or a la carte in the evening all using seasonal produce - we offer you something special every time. Head Chef Rifat Aycan has created the new menus using an exciting new range of dishes packed with flavour and all beautifully presented. Whether front of house or 'behind the kitchen door, every member of our team is dedicated to ensuring you enjoy your visit, spread the word and come back for more!

An excellent menu and service delivered in pleasant surroundings. Intimate tables for those who have something special to celebrate.
My wife an I have now enjoyed several meals over the past three years and standards have been maintained over this period both in terms of food quality presentation and service.

We ate here on a short break to Pitlochry. We were welcomed warmly and given the option to choose where we wanted to sit. We chose a table at the back of the restaurant near the fire, in a private, cosy little corner. Although it was 8pm, we were still able to order from the Pre-theatre value menu if we so wished. We decided to opt for the A La Carte menu. The food we ordered was outstanding and wonderfully presented. Service was attentive without being overly intrusive. The wine list was fairly extensive. I chose the Pinot Grigio, which was light, crisp and fresh - perfect! I would highly recommend this restaurant to couples who are looking for something special/romantic. Excellent!

We had been to Fern Cottage about 10 years previously and had quite enjoyed it then, so decided to go back again - we were not disappointed. My husband & I both had the venison medallions ...mmm - cooked to perfection. In fact, we enjoyed the meal so much we went back the next night too. This time we both had 8oz Aberdeen Angus fillet steaks with a pink peppercorn and brandy sauce. Again, the steaks were cooked exactly right and they were so tender - melt-in-the-mouth - (getting hungry as I type!) Would definitely recommend - nice atmosphere, super food - you'd find it hard to beat in Pitlochry.

One of the best meals we have had for a while. Staters of haggis and soup were excellent. The haggis was the best I have tasted and I have had a few. The venison was locally sourced, perfectly cooked. Desserts both fab. 3 courses and stuffed. We arrived about 7.30 but were offered the theatre menu as well as a la carte, we went for theatre even though officially stopped much earlier, well done, great value. Wine list stromg with some good value if you look for them. Only odd issue is the wooden wall splitting the restaurant into two, i presume it is necessary but did leave us isolated until others arrived. Staff efficient but limited social chat.
