We've had some dubious experiences in the past when eating out in Pitlochry, and this time we roamed the street in the afternoon to find somewhere different for dinner. The Fern Cottage menu looked good, so we booked.
The food, the service and the wine were first class. It was busy that night, but the tables are well-spaced and there was a lovely atmosphere. Some reviews here have mentioned small portions, but in my opinion the portions were perfectly sized - if, like us, you're put off by heaped plates of mediocre food then come here. Ingredients quality was first class. And the small outside eating areas are segregated for smokers and non-smokers, most unusual and very thoughtful.
Not the cheapest place to eat in the area but truly a case of you get what you pay for. We will be back.
