Description: The Killiecrankie Hotel is a friendly family-run hotel 3 miles from Pitlochry, in Highland Perthshire. The location is stunning: the hotel overlooks the Pass of Killiecrankie, a deep, tree-lined river gorge formed by the River Garry cutting its way through the surrounding granite hills. Credentials are plentiful, with three Red Stars & two Rosettes from the AA, Scottish Hotel of the Year from the Good Hotel Guide 2011 and an entry in the Good Food Guide. A daily changing menu provides eg. a salad of smoked Rannoch duck breast with walnuts and orange dressing, then perhaps a delicious whole quail, roasted, boned and stuffed with chicken and red onion mousse. Round things off with the raspberry and frangipane flan with ice cream and a mixed berry compote. A less formal arrangement is also available in The Bar Conservatory

I was just in Pitlochry for the second time in two years and on both occasions, my hosts allowed me to take them out to lunch. Again, they chose the Killiecrankie Hotel and again, it was delicious, unpretentious and extremely good value. We chatted with the owner afterwards and she was as delightful as her hotel and her staff.

Was taken out to lunch when visiting family. We had been here twice many moons ago and it was a bit hit n miss so didn't know what to expect. Well it was excellent....super food, friendly staff, wonderful location and a very relaxed atmosphere. I had the fish and chips as my mother in law recommended them..they were divine. We all had lovely tasting meals...if I had to be picky, my daughters chicken pie was very runny and although tasted nice could have done with a spoon! We especially enjoyed watching her 'magic' tea...won't spoil it for everyone but ask about them!

We called in on the off chance that we could get a table for 2. Despite being busy we were shown to a table. The food we has was excellent in all ways, freshly prepared and very tasty. The staff were very good and the hotel had a nice relaxed feel about it. Smashing surroundings and an ideal stopping off place, If we were traveling through and were looking for accommodation this would be the hotel of choice.

We were staying in Killiekrankie and so decided to give the restaurant in the hotel a go. We were attracted to it as the owner let our dog George into the bar before and after we ate whilst we had a drink. The owners and waiting staff were so lovely with him - he was given a treat and lots of attention! A place is always a hit with us when George is shown a bit of love! The food was great - good value and really tasty. A lovely place in a great location - nice people too!
