Description: The Killiecrankie Hotel is a friendly family-run hotel 3 miles from Pitlochry, in Highland Perthshire. The location is stunning: the hotel overlooks the Pass of Killiecrankie, a deep, tree-lined river gorge formed by the River Garry cutting its way through the surrounding granite hills. Credentials are plentiful, with three Red Stars & two Rosettes from the AA, Scottish Hotel of the Year from the Good Hotel Guide 2011 and an entry in the Good Food Guide. A daily changing menu provides eg. a salad of smoked Rannoch duck breast with walnuts and orange dressing, then perhaps a delicious whole quail, roasted, boned and stuffed with chicken and red onion mousse. Round things off with the raspberry and frangipane flan with ice cream and a mixed berry compote. A less formal arrangement is also available in The Bar Conservatory

“Anniversary to remember”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013 via mobile

Spent a wonderful anniversary evening here having dinner. The service was superb even to being greeted as soon as we drove up to the door by a pretty smiling young waitress. After an aperitif and a perusal of the menu and extensive wine list we were taken into the beautifully decorated dining room which was cosy and very comfortable. Our meal was excellent, the food cooked ,presented and served to perfection. Our wine was also especially to our taste, a lovely Rioja. The young waitresses looked after us in a most professional manner and we were thoroughly spoiled. This is how a special evening should be. Thank you to Henrietta and her staff for a night to remember.

“A rewarding recommendation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

We had just arrived from a loong journey en-route to Sutherland from North Wales and was relying on a recommendation from The Ptarmigan B&B to eat at The Killiecrankie Hotel. We ate in the Restaurant and were delighted with the quality of food and service. The ambiance was relaxed and the staff were really attentive in providing a professional and friendly service. We were so pleased that on the return journey en-route home we chose to try the bar/conservatory Restaurant to which we were again delighted with the food and service. We would recommend this hotel for quality of service, tasty and well presented food and the friendly staff. Full Marks!!

“Delicious Highland Fare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

Recently, a casual Saturday lunch with friends turned out to be a memorable meal since we were invited to the Bar Conservatory at this delightful little hotel, tucked away in the woods below the pass of Killiecrankie. The ambience is Highland but with an uncluttered modern feel to it and we have promised ourselves a return visit to this delightful spot.

“Expensive for what it was”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013 via mobile

We went to this hotel to escape a downpour on our walk from Pitlochry. The owner was kind enough to keep the chef on for a few minutes while we ordered a late lunch. We had soup and sandwich for £9 which was nice but nothing special. The hotel looks very nice if not a bit twee for us, certainly aimed at the slightly older end of the market. Bar area is nicely done and drinks menu was good. The prices for the whole area seem by high, presumably because of the huge tourist buses which come in and out of the area. I am sure many people would like the hotel and restaurant more than us if they were staying longer or had sampled more of the menu but just wasn't to our taste.

“Great quality & service in conservatory”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013

We ate in the bar/conservatory which is somewhat less expensive than the restaurant fixed price menu for dinner. The welcome is really warm and good service to match. The starters and main of braised steak was excellent and substantial, the pudding was a let down but coffee was great. This a super spot if you want somewhere quiet and attentive.
