“Lovely, welcoming stay”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Really lovely stay, exactly what we were hoping for. Just the right amount of attentiveness, welcoming and warm but not over the top. The room was really lovely and the bathroom was huge and very nice. The view from our bedroom was beautiful, the bed very comfortable and lots of nice little touches. Thank you for a fabulous weekend - would definitely return!

My partner and I stayed in the room with the King-Sized bed (room 2 I believe), which was very nice. The decor was classy yet not dated, and the bathroom was big with a huge bath and nice tiling on the walls. We did experience an issue with the toilet but this was resolved as soon as it could have been. The room was clean, and the views from the window are beautiful.

The breakfasts in the morning were served between 8 and 9, and were very nice. A few cereals were on selection, as were some fruit, yoghurt, and a fried breakfast. Smoked salmon was also available. Tea, coffee, juice were all available.

Ellangowan House is beautiful, and is owned by a younger couple than I would have thought! They were both very nice. Nothing seemed to be a problem, but we were left to find some things out for ourselves; the room was advertised as having an iron, but it is actually just the house iron that has to be requested. We didn't know this and I couldn't find anyone around to ask, as I was a little wary of wandering around the house as there are children in the house and I didn't want to impose. This meant I was standing awkwardly in the hallway for a while, just hoping and waiting for someone to pass through!

Do note that there at least are five other people in this house, as the couple that own the property have a family. However, there was no issue with noise and everyone seemed very polite!

Travelled February 2014, stayed as a couple.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 2, which is nicely decorated and very light and airy. The views from the window ar...

Lovely B&B, stayed there on a trip to the enchanted forest. We had the larger room, very clean . A bit old fashioned but very well kept.great view from the window even though it was raining. We were made very welcome on arrival. Breakfast was really good, plenty to choose from, berries, yogurts, cereals toast, & full Scottish . Would certainly stay at the Ellangowan again if we visit Pitlochry again

We spent two nights in this lovely home. It is very convenient to downtown Pitlochry and surrounding attractions like Blair Castle. Our hostess couldn't have been nicer and every comfort was taken care of. There were so many thoughtful details to make our stay pleasant and the cooked breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed the Pipe Band of Atholl, too! Great place - we would definitely stay here again!

Only had the opportunity to stay for one night, but this would be an ideal spot for a longer stay to explore the wonderful area around Pitlochry. As others have commented this is a lovely old house with superbly decorated, large rooms - at least our bedroom and the dining room were! The décor in the dining room in which we enjoyed a hearty cooked breakfast (the black pudding was exquisite) was amazing.
Both Mairi and Sean made us feel completely at home and were very helpful in giving guidance for local amenities.
All-in-all thoroughly recommended.
