Have stayed here 7 or 8 times now to see the highland games missing one year due to operation and I could not drive.
Great hotel . ( Not for kids I would say older kids would be ok )
Bedrooms are spacious and well equipped with decent modern furniture . The heating and electric blankets will be of use now as the temp drops.
The food is to die for Viv does the meals 5* I would say. John sees to front of house and the dining area with great panache and is fairly witty at times. He is helped by Marta who is very professional in her work ethic. Overall a pleasant experience had by our party again and will be booking next September for the games.

Stayed one night in a superior room which was very spacious and pleasantly furnished. Plenty of storage and a nice touch with twin electric blankets on the double bed. Hospitality tray provided, with fresh milk on request. Evening meal, ordered in advance was very good with four courses all well presented, sensibly priced wine list. Breakfast was also very good. However the bed, which was two singles fastened together, was so hard that we had a very poor night's sleep. This spoilt our enjoyment of what would otherwise have been a very pleasant stay.

The staff were professional and very knowledgeable and went out of their way to find answers to our questions.
A lovely place, with gorgeous surroundings and close to the town centre. The walk to the theatre that John kindly booked for us was enchanting. The shops, restaurants, fish ladder and distillery are all within very easy reach by car or on foot. The rooms at the Birchwood were very clean with tea and coffee making facilities available. Our evening meals were exquisite and all freshly prepared and cooked by Viv. Booking our meal before going out for the day made sure we were back in time to enjoy our dinner... Something we looked forward to so much that we decided to eat at the hotel every evening; and breakfast was always an adventure with everything we asked for becoming immediately available.
Would definitely recommend staying here and in this wonderful location.

Room Tip: We had three rooms on different floors all were good

We had a superior double for two nights £58 per person per night with breakfast. The building is a big old house with lots of period features inside. Its clean and our room was quite comfortable. I think in this case "superior" means "bigger than standard" because there were not really any extras in the room- big bed, sofa, TV, wardrobe, dresser, ensuite toilet and shower. Breakfast is 8.15-9.15. Breakfast was very tasty with good quality ingredients: you can have fruit juice, cereal, yoghurt, followed by cooked breakfast. It was good but not excellent. We felt the atmosphere was so stifled we ate breakfast and got out as soon as possible. There was only one other guest the first morning and 4 others the net day but it was near silent with dreadful music playing constantly in the back ground. The type of instrumental stuff they play in elevators. Guests are expected to leave their room key hanging on a board in reception when they go out. Not behind a manned desk, just out in the foyer where anyone could pick it up. We did not like this. They do serve an evening meal which seemed to be a fixed price 4 course meal for about £27 which you need to book during the day. We didn't have a meal, thought it was a bit expensive and given how oppressive breakfast was we decided to go out each evening.
Its not a bad place, good facilities and polite staff, it just wasn't for us- would prefer something a bit livelier with less formal atmosphere.

This is a lovely characterful small hotel in a quiet area, a pleasant stroll from the town centre. The hosts seem to be seasoned professional hoteliers & the rooms etc are very well maintained & furnished. Lovely breakfasts are a bonus. The single rooms are small but cosy, not too cramped; the only negative I would report is that the single beds were extremely hard & poor sleep did spoil the stay somewhat... otherwise, it's highly recommended!

Room Tip: If you're booking a single room (which are fine), ask for a mattress topper to soften the bed!

Just returned from long weekend at Pitlochry staying at the Birchwood hotel. A lovely place with pleasant staff, nice surroundings and close to town centre. The theatre, fish ladder and distillery are all in very easy reach by foot and car. We walked almost everywhere the car only moving again to get to Blar Atthol castle this morning before returning home. The rooms at the Birchwood were very clean with tea an coffee facilities. A nice touch was the Club biscuits, a nice treat before our evening meal. Would recommend staying here.

We had a lovely weekend at the Birchwood Hotel. We booked late and what a delightful surprise to come across such a hidden gem! We had a superior room and it was as good as any top class hotel. A warm comfortable bed with lots of space to move around in the room. The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant is outstanding and worthy of a special mention. At first we didn't intend to dine in the hotel, but are so very glad we chose to, every dish was prepared by Viv with care and attention and all left a lasting flavour and impression. Breakfast was one of the best i have ever tasted ! The service was top notch and John was so nice to talk with. The hotel is ideal for the town with only a short walk, and it was a pleasure to enjoy the gardens with wild birds and squirrels. We are so looking forward to returning to the Birchwood soon.
