“Disappointing and sort out your decor!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2012

Since the departure of the Luggie (a long time ago) I was keen to try out Hetties. After getting past the hideous decor (It might be your brand but it's seriously bad) we were shown a table. It was late in the afternoon. Myself and husband had a sandwich, kids had a cake. All were a bit dry and unappetising. The tea was nice but I'm not so thick that I need an eggtimer and a lecture about how to pour a cuppa using real tea.
It seemed understaffed and overpriced. Seems that like many other Pitlochry establishments, it'll get by as it is catering for a throughput of tourists so will always be busy. Having also tried the one in Perth I was none too impressed with that either.

“A good cup of tea.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2012

Friendly waitress who was rushed off her feet. My pot of Earl Grey was very refreshing but the muffin, at 4pm, was a bit dry.
Didn't like the decor - like sitting in Barbie's boudoir!

“Not a relaxing spot for a cup of tea.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2012

Firstly, the positives - the tea was pretty good and the cakes not bad, although the whole was probably a bit overpriced.

What got us was the quality of the service. There seemed to be enough staff around to cover the number of tables, but the owner/manager seemed to insist on micromanaging everything that everbody else was doing, leading to very slow service and creating a rather fraught and tense atmosphere, which was hardly conducive to a relaxing Sunday afternoon cup of tea.
