“Would only go back if no where else has availability.”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Place seemed a little overcrowded as the tea-room was on one side and shop on the other. How you had to get staff's attention was by a device on the table which was very strange. Food was abit naff - tuna mayonnaise did not taste right and my boyfriends sausage bun was a little over done plus we are quite sure the sausages weren't pork (we think it was venison) which we should of been notified about (either from the staff themselves or noticed on the menu or boards)!

“Do not insist it's fresh orange juice... there's Tripadvisor.”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Pitlochry is picturesque. We went in this quaint tearoom and ordered some scones and some fresh orange juice. When I asked whether the juice is indeed fresh, the manager said "Yes, yes." Do not lose your ratings over an orange juice. If you do not have any, just say so...

“Hit & miss”
Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

We visited Hettie's twice ordering two pots of tea & a slice of cake each time. On our first visit the tea was refreshing & the cake fresh & tasty, on our second visit my tea was so bitter I couldn't drink it & the cake dry. In fairness, when I complained about the tea they did knock it off the bill although they were adamant that the cake had been freshly baked that day (as a baker I know stale cake when I see/taste it!) if we had only visited Hettie's once & left it there I would have given them a five, the slice of cake we were given was big enough to satisfy two of us (it was more of a wedge!). £8 for 2 teas & cake in a touristy area is extremely good value but visit number 2 was a waste of money & left me disappointed & would have scored a 1.

“An old-fashioned experience - but you pay for it !!!!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We were passing through Pitlochry and needed a drink and a snack. We came upon Hettie's by chance. I've never had an egg-timer (tea-timer ?) with a teapot before ! We were told 'When it's run out, the tea will be perfectly brewed'. It was. But I would have left it for several minutes anyway, so it was just a gimmick. As indeed was the gadget on the table - 'Press one button, for service, another for the bill, etc '. All of these toys have to be paid for - and by golly we did !!

It was all very pleasant, but SO expensive for just a tea and a teacake ! It was very busy, and the cakes looked very good, but they're not really FOOD so are an indulgence.

If that floats your boat, then fine ! As long as you've just been paid !

“great atmosphere, friendly staff”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We visited this coffee shop on a whim in need of light refreshment. We were shown straight to a table by friendly staff. Ordered teas and cakes using the buzzer system, which I found quirky, and prevents staff buzzing around you when you aren't ready to order!
Teas were really nice and both cakes were tasty, although we thought they were a little dry.
We had arrived on the 4th anniversary of their opening and narrowly missed having our faces painted, and did not escape having a caricature of ourselves done, all free as part of the celebration! The atmosphere was great and all the staff were smiling and laughing, which all makes for an overall positive experience.
