From our booking, with Donald, to our check-out, the staff were excellent. We spied an online deal for two nights DB&B and three spa treatments each for £125 per person, and phoned through to check that it wasn't a mistake. We booked in for the following night and arrived to be checked into room 143. It was small but clean and had generous sized toiletries (albeit only shampoo - no conditioner). Our first three course meal was average, and there were a couple of hiccups that the staff quickly rectified. The staff were accommodating to gluten free requests. Breakfasts were fine. The evening meal the second night was much better and we enjoyed our blue cheese and mushroom starter and roasted red pepper and tomato soup. The fishcakes were good and came with steaming hot new potatoes and salad, and our desert of apple panna cotta and shortbread was a nice size. We lamented that we hadn't chosen the cranachan the night before so Kenny brought us a taster each - in addition to the desert we had just devoured. It was a lovely extra touch.

While we stayed at the hotel we had a 1 hour full body massage each, a half hour foot massage each and a 1 hour facial each (all included in the deal). The therapist, Savannah, was lovely - both with her massage and personality, and we enjoyed the experience. When I mentioned that we didn't have conditioner in the rooms, she attempted to find some in the hotel, and unexpectedly ended up bring in some from home - well beyond the call of duty.

Aside from the treatments and eating, we spent time in the spa - the sauna and steam room were very good, but the hot tub was a bit cool and the 7 minute timer seemed too short - we just jumped between it and the steam room while it re-set. The swim lessons made the spa experience less relaxing than it could have been otherwise - but the management are aware of this.

There are some improvements that could be made, and we talked with the staff about them, but in general any requests for improvement were met with an immediate response to help us. We were happy with the experience, especially given the cost, and would stay again given a similar deal. Any issues with the hotel were made up for by the fantastic staff.

Well where can i start ? Receptionist [sarah] what a lovely and happy first impression when booking in ,[10/10].Next onto the room just what we expected nice and clean and big enough for us .all the rooms we had [there was 6 couples and all were impressed] not an easy thing to do as at least 1 person usually has a complaint. After a quick change and wash down to the bar where the friendliness continued and it was genuine[DONALD MCLEOD THESE STAFF ARE DUE A RAISE TAKE NOTE]although busy staff where amazing. After a good night sleep and down to breakfast and boy was it worth getting up for after a [very] late night on friday great choice and service very quick and with a smile nothing to much bother for them.Pool sauna and steam room [just what the doc ordered ] for a relaxing afternoon.Sat night ABBA EXPERIENCE and what an experience. Not being big abba fans we had a great night and most of the guests we spoke to after it enjoyed it to [maybe to do with the alcahol we had] but the girls were alright and the meal was superb well done the catering staff.Sun morning and it was time to leave [aaawww] and after a hearty breakfast it was time to head home but as you can probably tell we will be back and by all accounts a few more friends of mine have expressed an interest in going with us the next time so to Donald and all his staff thank you all for a great weekend break

We stayed one night on a Groupon deal and will definately be back. We arrived early but the girl on reception was so helpful and got us checked into a fantastic room (really large bedroom with separate seating area with couch & chairs, separate hallway and a large modern bathroom). We spent a few hours in the relaxing leasure facilities which were very clean with a lovely pool, steamroom, sauna, jacuzzi & gym. We were on a DB&B deal with wine. The dinner was lovely, especially when I consider what we paid for the deal. And the breakfast was as good as I've had in any hotel (and I do a lot of travelling with work). Overall, we loved the place and I was astonished at the value given what we paid. The girl on reception and all the staff in the dinning area were extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back - for a couple of nights next time. I think the hotel is 3 star but can't be far off 4. Paul Boyle - 28 November 2011.

We came here for a weekend break, something we do on a regular basis, so we are used to many a hotel! For the price this was the best hotel so far. Usually they are a bit run down and peopled by the more elderly bingo players which we don't mind as we just want the b@b at a good price etc. This hotel is in the centre of town near to the shops and Pitlochry Theatre. The walk along the river is beautiful, so the location is really key. The staff are well trained and the girl at reception really lovely. The included dinner was fine as was the wine list, the staff briskly efficient getting ready for the evening entertainment which we weren't bothered about (we rarely are) and even though we could hear it in our room until nearly midnight, it was no big deal - it was to be expected. Some small niggles regarding the breakfast which is really good - too much vinegar on the poached eggs - neither of us could eat them - but the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs are good and the jam is in little jars etc, always a good sign, orange juice horrible as ever in these hotels. Also we were a little cold during the night, no heavy blankets in the cupboard and quilt a little thin. Toilet paper cheap but again a small niggle. Overall a great hotel for the money, if it is possible to address the smaller niggles and keep within budget, great. Certainly to be recommended as a great value hotel in a truly beautiful location.

My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night, to get a wee break. We have never stayed at this hotel before, but we know Pitlochery well and have stayed at another hotel in the chain so we thought we knew what to expect.
Check in was easy and efficient, we had booked an 'executive suite' on the internet rate which we though was very reasonable for dinner B + B. we were on the second floor, and the trip to it was interesting, the lift is old, and I wonder if would pass modern standards!, however it worked and got us to the second floor, though my Wife wouldnt use it again!!!. The coridoors are clean, but dated, with the doors of the rooms being old 70's vineer. The room itself was excellent, with fresh fruit, plenty of nice space with a large flatscreen TV and nice sized en-suite.

We went down to dinner at 8 pm, and it was disapointing, the meals had obvoiusly been pre-prapared and were not what I would expect of a hotel of this calibre. Service was lightening fast however and we did get the impression that they wanted to turn us around quite quickly ( there was an ABBA tribute night on). we were in and away in 35mins!!

Breakfast in the morning was very nice, I had the full cooked breakfast which was served quickly, the food was nice and not flooded with fat.
There is a cracking spa at this hotel, but we didnt have the time really to use it which was a shame, there is also a nice bar and lounge area which looked as if it would be great with a coffee and the morning papers!

All in all a nice experiance and we would definately come back to stay at this hotel, however we would think twice about the DBB option, and possibly eat out next time.

Room Tip: Exectuive Suites on the internet rate are great value

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, our upgraded rooms are lovely good size and well worth booking if staying a couple of nights. Our corridors are getting painted in early January 2012 which is just round the corner which will make a big difference, the lift gets many a comment and is very safe, will look into getting a inside door as thats what puts people off using it at times.

Your dining experience does seem rather quick i know our Saturdays have been very busy with the entertainment packages, the only meals that are semi prepared is our daily menu as we have to cater for 110 persons and if your not prepped up well thats when things can wrong, my apologies if you felt were hurried you along certainly not our intention and I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast very important meal.

You need to return again for a couple of nights and enjoy all the hotel has to offer, thank you again for taking the time and reviewing your stay with us.

Kind Regards
Donald Macleod

Stayed here in November 2011 for a night and found the place to be very reasonable for the deal that was on offer at the time. Particularly liked the use of the liesure facilities which were of a high standard and my partner and I had them more or less to ourselves. Food was reasonable as was the standard of accomodation. Nice place overall for a short break.
