We had an enjoyable lunch here before the matinee. Self service but staff efficient at keeping
tables cleared. The beautiful setting above the river is an added bonus. The restaurant and
bar were extremely busy, so they must be doing something right!!

“Overpriced”
Reviewed 10 November 2013 via mobile

Ate here before going to see The Steamie and was a bit disappointed in the whole experience. The restaurant area is very canteen like could be doing with a bit of an upgrade. The food although very acceptable was very overpriced. Service was very efficient in fact too efficient almost regimental.
If going to the theatre again would probably consider somewhere else to eat.

“What a great location”
Reviewed 19 October 2013 via mobile

Had a really lovely lunch, fish pie which was loaded with fish. After had cake and what huge portions they were, really scrumptious chocolate cake. A really popular place to eat and obviously convenient for pre show meals.

“Same old same old!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

We've being going to Pitlochry Festival Theatre for quite a few years and the main lunch/dinner menu has seen few changes over the years. There are lunchtime specials which are not very inspiring and have little choice. This venue could, if updating and improving their menu, could be very busy both at lunch and dinner times. The coffee and snack bar is excellent. The doughnuts are excellent! But, the dining room menu needs to be expanded and added to. Bring it up to date, please!!

“Great start to an evening of theatre”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

I had arrived home to Pitlochry when I was whisked off for a surprise evening - drinks in the theatre bar overlooking the river then into the restaurant at 6:30pm for a 3 course meal and coffee timed for the start of the play (Lady Windermere's Fan which was also extremely good) at 8pm

Food was themed (or at least named) with the characters in the play and the menu was printed with the play's imagery

I was surprised by the choices on the menu - we had no idea what to expect - the food was delivered quickly, tap water for the table, choice of wines and the food was tasty. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was busy but everything went smoothly and we certainly enjoyed it.

The service and food will be prepared and ready for a short and fixed time so there will always be compromises. In our case it worked out well, but then it was an unexpected bonus as we had no idea what to expect! I suspect it is very easy for mistakes to marr an evening - it does seem to be well managed though.

Port Na Craig is also an excellent choice for pre or post theatre dining - being a short walk from the theatre. In any case both options are a great start to an evening of Pitlochry theatre performances.
