We spent one night at this fantastic place a couple of weeks ago. The property was built for an English lady several decades ago, and has maintained its charm. We stayed in the Superior Room that was more a suite with spacious bedroom and a useful living area. Absolutely spic & span!

The common areas are excellent - lots of very comfortable places to sit and have a conversation or read a book. The dining room is well appointed and served excellent breakfast.

What was even more delightful was the service. Tess checked us in efficiently and was ready to help with tickets to a play at the local theatre till we realized that we wanted to see the World Cup semi-final (in which Germany decimated Brazil!). At the bar, JP took great care of us and provided excellent recommendation to visit a local pub, McKay's, which holds a free Whisky Tasting session every Tuesday.

Pine Trees is a short (but at an incline) 10 minute walk from the main town area.

All in all, a wonderful stay. The only regret was that they did not have space to accommodate us for one more night!

Room Tip: Go for the Superior Room with views of the gardens

Pine Trees is located in one of the most beautiful and peaceful settings you could imagine and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing there during our six-day stay. The staff could not have been more helpful and were all very friendly. Our room, on the second floor, was very comfortable - although there were many stairs to climb, and no lift! - and we were glad of the air conditioning as it felt very warm in the hotel. There was lots of wardrobe and drawer space for clothes. Being up in the eaves, however, meant that my husband, who is over 6 feet tall, found using the shower very uncomfortable. Breakfast was delicious every morning, with plenty of different choices available. One suggestion I would make is that a choice of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk might be offered as only full fat milk was available. We had dinner in the restaurant only once, unfortunately, but were extremely impressed by the quality of our meal and would certainly recommend it to others - the price was very reasonable, too. It took us about 20 minutes to walk, comfortably, from the hotel to the Festival Theatre (under 10 minutes to drive) although be aware that the road down to the town is quite steep. We would happily go back to Pine Trees again, although we would ask for a room with more headroom!

Room Tip: Rooms in the eaves are not suitable for tall people.

Lovely Room, lovely Staff .Very enjoyable stay here but.......!!! 1. Menu is the same every day and...... 2. Bar menu stops at 5.00pm. Although, you can still get Room Service at £5.00 a pop! A lovely Dinner the first night but had been to the Theatre for a Matinee Show with pre-Theatre Lunch the next. What a pity we didn't have a change of menu for the evening or the choice of some Bar Snacks. It was the same two years ago when I last stayed here. A Dish of the Day might have encouraged us to dine or at least an A La Carte, rather than the same fixed Menu at £55.00! Think they need to look at what others are offering and be more flexible in their approach! After all it is 2014! ps Bed was too soft!

This is one pf the nicest and friendly hotels I have ever stayed at. The room were gordeus and the bath-shower was almost luxury. Highly recommended.
The staff were also extreamly nice and friendly. The only thing to remark about is the size of the cooked breakfast. It was good but just one slice of bacon. Maybe it is heltier so?
Recommended anyhow

Room Tip: If you bring a dog you might be lucky to stay in the anex. Thats extreamly good

Third visit to this hotel which says it all. Excellent staff, nice room, good food and convenient for theatre.. Beautiful views from our room of the hills surrounding Pitlochry. Pity we could only stay one night..

I visited Pine Trees last week. My double room was rather small the effects of which were made worse by the inclusion of several rather large pieces of furniture. If the furniture were fitted into to space available it would seem much larger. There are larger rooms which I have had on previous occasions. The email confirming my reservation said the rooms available were all on the first floor (it said nothing about availability of second floor rooms so I assumed there were none). I assumed I would have one of the first floor rooms, but in fact it was on the second floor. I would stay again, but would need to discuss my requirements direct with the hotel before doing so. Booking via an agent here does not necessarily produce a good room.

Otherwise the hotel is very nice and relaxing; the staff friendly. Dinner was good value @ £20 for a three course meal. Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: Wifi is only available at present in the main building not the new annex. There are a number of new...

Our room was a bit on the small side, but this was compensated for by the several large, comfortable sitting rooms that were great places for relaxing and meeting other guests. The room's air system didn't work quite as it was supposed to, but luckily the windows opened wide and let plenty of fresh, cool air in for a good, quiet sleep. The breakfast was made to order and excellent. We enjoyed the hotel's location and beautiful grounds, and found it was a good base from which to walk to adjacent villages or up into the hills. The wifi signal was a little marginal - at times it worked from our room, but we usually had to move into one of the sitting rooms to get reception.
