“Great hotel if you don't have a dog”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We have stayed at the Acarsaid on three occasions now but doubt we would return if we were bringing our dog again, the reason being that you are restricted to 2 rooms beside the ladies and gents toilets on the ground floor. This can be distracting for the dog as the soundproofing isn't great hence lots of noise. This is the only thing that spoils it as it is a lovely hotel and has recently been refurbished. The bed was spacious and very comfortable, the shower good, and there was plenty of tea/coffee and nice biscuits on offer. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and both were very good. The hotel is close to all amenities with lots of good walks, shops and restaurants. The staff were welcoming at all times and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel but not if you intend to bring your dog. I would have given it 4 stars had we not been restricted to the 2 rooms.

Room Tip: Do not choose 10 or 11 as they are next to the toilets

Thanks for your kind comments about The Acarsaid - having spent £500k on refurbishing the hotel we did decide that we would restrict access for dogs to 2 rooms, most people that stay in the hotel do not bring dogs & most would prefer to sleep in a room where a dog had not been before them therefore the decision was taken to restrict to 2 rooms, I doubt that we will change the decision now I'm afraid - however we are one of the few hotels in Pitlochry that still accept dogs.
Kind regards

Stayed here over night in pitlochry. Booked on booking.com an was not disappointed. Greeted by a lovely lady to start with which is always helpful, shown to room, which was maybe a bit small but hey it was only needed for refreshing and sleeping so spot on, comfy and quiet room to say next to the dining room, great shower. Breakfast in the morning was fantatsic, no better way that starting off the day with great food. Service was again brilliant, this seems to be a theme in scotland, friendly and welcoming people. Would definitely stay again

Thank you for your very kind comments on the Acarsaid - we do of course have rooms larger than this but this room was described on booking.com as a small double with a rate reflecting this.

Reading such pleasant comments as yours really does make a difference to our small team here & they all really appreciate you taking the time to let others know your opinions of the hotel.

Thank you again & kind regards

We stayed as a group of 4, split over 2 double bedrooms.

Our bedroom (number 4) was large, comfortable, with views out to the front of the hotel. There was little noise and we slept well in the comfortable bed. There are reviews from other guests bemoaning the quality of the rooms, there is nothing wrong with them - it's not a 5* hotel and does not claim to be.

The hotel offers an excellent selection for breakfast, everything is well cooked with a good quality of ingredients.

It's a short walk from the hotel into the centre of Pitclochry, where you can find good pubs - for both drinking and eating.

I travel extensively for business, staying in hotels good and bad. This hotel is very good. I did however have an experience that was new to me. At 4:30am I heard desperate shouting from a neighbouring room, it turns out that an elderly gentleman had fallen out of his bed and was unable to get back in. I found the emergency number in the hotel at reception. The hotel staff were quick to respond and access the room. Well done.

The gentleman hotel manager was extremely pleasant - there were a couple of things that nearly led me to rate this hotel very good rather than excellent. The first being a rather brusque lady, who advised me it was against licencing laws (!!) to drink my own water in the bar area. I'd actually just sat down to be able to use the free wifi on the way back to my room, using the table as a convienient place to leave the water. I don't appreciate being scolded like a small child. Whether her statement is true or not, it could have been delivered in a much better way.

Thank you for your kind comments about The Acarsaid & for your help on the evening when the elderly gent needed help - we did pass on your concern to him & all turned out well in the end.
Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your Scotland trip.

Visited Pitlochry with my fiancée where we were fortunate to stay at the Acarsaid & from the moment we arrived we were made to feel truly welcome. Hotel has clearly been recently refurbished and our room had everything we required.

There is clearly a lot of attention to detail paid by the hotel staff which is seen in the standard of cleanliness; something that often seems to be overlooked in larger 'chain' hotels.

We were also able to tuck in to an excellent breakfast on both mornings which was served in the steakhouse restaurant which is part of the hotel (will submit a separate review for that as I want to make sure I do justice to my amazing steak!!) that really set us up for the day ahead.

It was noticeable how friendly everyone was in and around the hotel and it felt like that atmosphere was set by staff who were always on hand when needed.

We have definitely found our new "favourite escape" for a short break and have already planned to return in the autumn.

Stayed at Acarsaid for three nights. Welcoming, lovely room which was nicely decorated, brilliant food especially the cheesecake and good wifi reception. All staff very pleasant and accommodating from booking to checkout. Hope to return.

Room Tip: Room 10 nice away from noise of traffic and lovely view of back garden.

Easy walking from Hotel to downtown. Street behind hotel is great for walking as there are many beautiful home gardens to see.

Rooms are clean but small and dated. Bathroom is very small and could be more efficient. Free WiFi does not work in the room. Towel warmer never worked. There is no AC if that is important to you. Windows are large and do open for a breeze. Parking is at the hotel and very convenient. We had a room with twin beds and they were comfy. Rooms at the back are quiet and the rooms at the front have a view of town and the beautiful scenery.

Staff was friendly enough but not outstanding. Breakfast with the hotel stay is very good. Great choices on the menu. Dinner at the hotel was overpriced and the steak was disappointing. I would check out other hotels before making a reservation here.

Thank you for taking the time to write a short review of your visit, just a couple of points to pick up on though,
All our bedrooms were completely refurbished in January of this year and the rooms you & your party occupied were both 14.21msq (153 ftsq) so could hardly be described as either dated or small !
I'm not too sure what you mean by the bathroom could be more efficient, again these are all new this year with all new walk-in showers, fixtures & fittings (confused !)
We have at no time claimed to have AC, (if it was not important not sure why it would be mentioned) also we offer WIFI (free of charge) in our public areas again we have never claimed otherwise (confused !)
I was disappointed to read your comments regarding dinner (and your review on the restaurant) There is always a Manager on duty that could have dealt with any problems you may have had at the time - in-fact she remembers asking if all was okay with your table on the evening in question so I am also surprised that you then choose to air your views in this manner rather than dealing with them at the time when something could have been resolved - strange that you would do this.
However all being said - I do hope that you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Scotland.
Kind regards

Stayed here for 2 nights while touring Scotland, did enjoy our visit a lot.hotel has been re-furbished recently to a very good level, new carpets, decorating, lounge furniture etc.the dining room is a really updated and pleasant place to eat and the food a really good quality,we had breakfast and dinner...all really good. All the staff were really friendly and nice and the whole atmosphere was really good.,we would stay again if we were in the area. Would just like to suggest that wi fi access should be extended to the bedrooms, that would be more convenient.also a drop off place and a bit of "blue badge" parking near the hotel front as the main car park is at the back.also what about a small tv in one of the lounge areas(there are several)not just for general watching but for the news etc,a way to catch up on things and have a drink from the bar.

Thank you for your very kind review and your comments regarding the car park, we certainly have no problem with drop-off at the entrance to the Hotel but unfortunately the Emergency Services insist that the driveway area to the Hotel is kept clear for Emergency Service Vehicle access.

Thanks again & Kind regards
