A girlie break for a big birthday and we had a great time. The building and grounds are amazing and live up to the “palace”. Four of us booked the one night spa break and must say it was great value including afternoon tea, a spa treatment dinner bed and breakfast.
We has two adjoining rooms on the second floor one large and one small. Both had great views were clean, but could do with updating. The smaller of the two rooms only had a shower.
Our first stop was afternoon tea, our young Irish waiter was very friendly and welcoming with just the right amount of banter, offering to open windows as we were all fanning ourselves with the menus. Whilst having our afternoon tea we enjoyed watching the guests who had assembled for a large wedding that was on in the hotel.
Next stop was the spa, two pedicures a message and a facial, the girls were very welcoming and friendly put us at ease and our treatments were very relaxing.
After the spa we went to the bar for a drink. but the service was exceedingly slow – had to phone reception to get someone to come and serve us. Not sure if this was normal or because of the wedding. We were not the only people in the bar there were two other groups, the barman left every time he had served one group and the had to be phoned again.
Dinner was just ok the risotto starter was a bit dry and there was a poor choice of vegetarian dishes. We were told that after dinner coffee would be served in the lounge outside the restaurant, we had to ask twice for this, not sure if the service was slow because of the wedding.
Breakfast was good, self serve buffet and everything was fresh and warm. It was very busy and there was a bit of a queue at the one toaster.
All in all a great night, well worth it and yes I would go again.

I stayed at this hotel recently. The location and scenery cannot be beaten and as such I have awarded three stars. Unfortunately, that is the positives! Inside the one old fashioned lift was a display of memorabilia from a wedding in 1951. I think the wedding party may not have found the hotel much changed were they to return today. This may suit some but in my view modernisation is much needed. Moreover, I had a small room on the third floor. The bed was comfortable and the views grand but the furniture was tired and old fashioned. The 'shower' room was the worst of all. I may have had a better jet of water had I stood under a watering can and over my two day stay I am yet to get a hot shower. Not at all what I expected!

Room Tip: Dont accept floor 3!

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Atholl Palace and must say I was very impressed. As soon as I started walking up the drive to the hotel I knew I had made the correct choice of hotel. The setting is fantastic and if you like wildlife and walking this is the place for you. I had a room on the top floor looking across to Ben Vrackie and it was very quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed it so much I have booked to go back next February. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one really is great value for money. The staff were very pleasant and the ambience of the hotel wonderful. Yes I would highly recommend this hotel. I did not dine here at night but did have breakfast both days which was lovely. Can't wait to go back next year!!!

Atholl Palace Hotel is a country-house style location in Pitlochry. It is a large and imposing building set in lovely grounds. The published room rates reflect the setting but an offer under advetised rates made this a surprisingly value for money stay.

The entrance to the hotel is up a long driveway. Walking up is clearly not the regular means of arrival but it is such a decent setting it is still enjoyable. There is ample car park space.

Internally the decor is a little faded at times. The hotel seems to attract a slighty older clientele who do fit the ambience somewhat. Still, it does offer pitch and putt, snooker, and pool. The basement level includes a self-service laundry room which is a good bonus.

The many corridors on each level can be a bit confusing but with a bit of spacial awareness it all fits together quite well.

Even the better value rooms are large with a good size en suite bathroom. The bed is a very comfortable four-poster. There is ample storage space. Views are variable. The television carries a very limited selection, less than the industry standard Freesat. Sound proofing seems to be excellent.

Breakfast is standard fare done well. The cooked breakfast options are all good. Seating feels a little crammed in for such a classy place.

Service is fine. While not overly tested during this visit there were no reasons to take issue and a slightly more complex group check-in ran smoothly.

The rounds of Atholl Palace are really good. So calm and serene in the beautiful Pitlochry setting. Trails running out of the hotel join up with some of the local walks as well as offering the best route through the woods from the Edradour distillery.

We stayed at the Ben Y Ghlo apartment for 3 nights. We had a really lovely break. You could not ask to be in a more picturesque and peaceful setting which is also only a short walk into the centre of Pitlochry.

It is a good sized apartment but could do with a thorough clean. The bathrooms were not cleaned to a high standard. We were also not provided with hand soap in the bathrooms. There was no cold water on the Saturday, due to a problem affecting the whole of the apartments. It would have been nice if someone from the hotel had come round to inform us of this and provided us with water without us having to ask for this. It would have also been a nice touch if we had been provided with tea and coffee and milk. We have stayed in a number of apartments and have always been provided with this and would expect better from a 4 star resort.

The leisure facilities are very nice and provide a relaxing environment. We also enjoyed the walks nearby and using the putting green.

We would agree with other tripadvisor comments regarding the hotel needing a bit of a facelift/redecoration to make it look less dated.

Thank you sincerely for your comments regarding your recent stay in our lodges.
At the Atholl Palace we welcome all feedback, good and bad so thank you for taking the time out to post your review. I believe the problem with the water on Saturday was not isolated to us only, and was fixed fairly quickly, but I agree that you should have been notified prior to you having to ask for bottled water, so I apologise for this. With regards provisions of tea/coffee/milk etc in the rooms, we do not advertise or offer this in the lodges, but perhaps we need to re-think this policy for short stays. Again, thank you for your review, and we will certainly do our best to rectify the points you have mentioned.
We hope to welcome you back to the Atholl Palace Hotel in the near future.

Very atmospheric, old hotel with a history from its Hydropathic days. Wonderful situation above the town, lovely gardens for having walks, comfy lounges and interesting bedrooms. The bathrooms have Arran Aromatics toiletries . Breakfast was really nice and very freshly made.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front and high up if there is one available. The view is so nice.

Just back from a short break at Atholl Palace Hotel, we stayed in the Manor House, which was extremely luxurious, spacious and comfortable. Our package included dinner and breakfast, the food was first class, hats off to the chef. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel clean and tidy. We used the pool whilst there which was lovely but because it is fairly small not so good when busy, but we enjoyed the use of the Jacuzzi, steam rooms and sauna. We were celebrating my husbands 40th birthday and after a busy start to the year were looking for a relaxing weekend break - we could not have picked a better venue - thank you for a wonderful break, hope to see you again soon.
