“Breathtaking views, lovely hotel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

We were celebrating a family member's 80th & cannot fault anything! Welcoming staff, lovely room with fantastic views, excellent food & in a wonderful location. On the actual "party night" Saturday, staff were attentive & you felt that you really were at a family party & not a function like at some venues. Plenty of choice at breakfast & our "birthday dinner" menus Friday & Saturday were excellent with generous portions, bang went the diet! I would love to return to this hotel, it is in an ideal location for walks etc. but if you want to chill out there are plenty of comfy seats all around & staff ready & willing to serve whatever you need. Didn't get to use all the facilities on this visit but hope to next time. We were guests of "birthday girl" Jinty whose treat to us all this was, how lucky were we? Would advise anyone to spoil themselves here.

Room Tip: We were in room 215, views from all the windows were superb! Large room & bathroom, remember to...

Stayed in one of the Lodges in the grounds of Atholl Palace and thought it was brilliant. The 'newish' build lodges were like a home from home with all you could need for a relaxing break away. The Lodge was clean but could do with a few bits of cosmetics repair. The kitchen and lounge/dining room on the first floor gave us plenty of space and had all we required to cook for ourselves. The lodge was situated right next to the play area - ideal for our little one and through a 'gap in the wall' we got to explore the woods and countryside just a minute away. Only downside is its all uphill if you are walking back from the town centre!!
Highly recommend for families looking to get away and not wanting to be confined to a hotel bedroom.

We recently stayed at this hotel for a family break and all concerned were blown away by the experience. The hotel is beautiful and well looked after, walks in the grounds are a must, rooms are stunning, staff the nicest I have came across and the food superb. The spa is good, although the changing area a wee bit small and the hotels museum is a great idea and a treat to visit.

The hotel was lovely, staff very helpful and friendly. The walks on the grounds were beautiful and the food was good. Our room was on the third floor so we had an amazing view over the grounds. The size of the room was impressive, perfect location, would highly recommend.

This is the second time my friends and I have visited this hotel on a spa break. Staff could not do enough for us. Treatments are amazing, felt very relaxed afterwards. Spa facilities are good, pool can get a wee bit busy at times but don't let that put you off at all, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all good. Food is very tasty and twice we asked for something that was not on the menu and staff went out their way to get it. Beautiful hotel, in an amazing location, with real log burning fires. Highly recommended. Thank you for making our stay fabulous.

This is booked through the hotel. We stayed in "The Bothy" - excellent, very well equipped, self-catering but with the hotel amenities a v short walk away. It even had a washing machine and the bedroom had a four poster bed! Its also in its own gated garden which you drive into and this backs onto the herb garden. V comfortable bed.

Impressive fortress-like building with huge grounds - a park, really - worth exploring. Posh, clean, old-fashioned charm, an open fire crackling in the lobby. What I liked best about it was their little museum in the basement: it gives a flavour of what hotel life was like in earlier times.

We had booked the dinner, bed and breakfast package. A friend had said "stick to their Scottish cooking" and I did, the dinner was very good. Breakfast was average, with the croissants definitely being not of the "pur beurre" variety. Sleep quality was perfect the first night, being in a quiet, woody area I expected that. But the second night was interrupted by the constant whimpering of a dog - I don't know whose dog but I wish they had just let it come into their bed! Such sounds carry quite far at night and this seemed to be just below us.

Our room had a great view (I had asked for this). We stayed 2 nights and on the 2nd day the room was not hoovered although we had tracked in some autumn leaves (we were there to walk, after all, although we tried not to bring in mud!). Mark M's review mentioning the staff was pretty much true in our experience too although one of the receptionists was quite polite and friendly. Some of the waiting staff were friendlier than others and yes, some of the non-native speakers of English were hard to understand.

The pool and jacuzzi were lovely, changing room clean and well-equipped. There were plenty of towels. Next time we will make sure NOT to book during school holidays....

We had a look at the kitchen garden, which of course was not at its best time in autumn. Would like to see it in summer. You can walk on a sometimes muddy path from the hotel through woods and fields to the Edradouir (pronounced to rhyme with flower) Distillery, a very enjoyable visit. You can also visit the Black Spout falls, which we didn't find, a shame!
