Myself and family stayed at the Atholl Palace in March 2014, we were very disappointed when we checked in that the Pool & Spa were closed due to a leak! Our son was very disappointed as he was really looking forward to the pool. The Stagshead bar was also closed and we were disappointed by this.
The Hotel is an architectural masterpiece with fantastic grounds, gardens and a really nice little golf course on the grounds, there were some really beautiful walks in the grounds and the weather was not bad, considering it was March. The hotel is a very short walk from the town centre and is easy walking distance to all of the pubs & restaurants in the town. We ate one night in the Hotel restaurant and found that it was OK but not great. I ordered the rack of lamb which was very tough. The hotel offers a decent buffet style breakfast with everything on offer that you could want, the usual fry up stuff plus yoghurts, fruit, porridge, cereals, various types of bread, pastries, croissants etc, good spread but gets very crowded in there in the mornings with a queue the norm. The hotel seems like a very popular spot for weddings which is not surprising seeing as the scenery in the grounds is so spectacular, the views from the restaurant are also awesome. We would stay here again, but we would check that all of the facilities are available next time. Disappointing that the Spa & Pool were closed.
