My partner treated me to a Valentines weekend away in 2013(a little late in reviewing). I did not know where we were going until we arrived and I was stunned the Palace looked beautiful. It was still a little snowy and we arrived a little before check in so we walked around the grounds, around the back of the Palace there are many walkways in the woodlands which are well sign posted we managed to find a lovely waterfall - If you enjoy walking like us this is an ideal hotel to go with good shops as well. When we checked in to the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff and a shot of whiskey. We were in a standard double room which was massive, the view from our room was amazing. The food at dinner was delicious and the service was good! Breakfast was really good as well a buffet style - spoilt for choice! We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: View of the forest.

Myself and 2 friends went away for a fantastic relaxing spa break, and that is certainly what we got!

Debbie and Lisa in the Lavender Spa were excellent - we all really enjoyed our treatments!

Unfortunately the pool, sauna etc was closed during our visit but we were offered a complimentary treatment (mani, pedi or facial) with a student. A lovely guesture, much appreciated, however the student that did my pedi was poor. After such a relaxing scrub and massage, the last thing I wanted was to hear was how "they only play the same 3 tunes over and over and over again"; or how they "come in in the morning without make up on and use the expensive stuff here instead". Very unprofessional comments and these were just a few of them!

Another disappointing note would be that she didn't really seem to have much clue what she was doing. I appreciate that we all need to learn and she had no experience removing shellac, but when it came to painting the polish she was going from side to side instead of cuticle to tip, then immediately after she had finished her one (and only) coat she promptly told me to "go and sit through there" in the relaxation room.

Moving on... our break included 2 nights DBB and afternoon tea as well! The meals were all excellent, staff were very attentive and polite.

Our room was very nice - a little bit dated, but it was very clean! Our only negative point is that every so often the radiator would start revving like a pneumatic drill! Thankfully our stay wasn't during the height of winter as the only way to stop the horrendous noise was to turn off the radiator completely.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Its a beautiful hotel with stunning surrounds, amazing food and wine, and not too far from the main street either (10 min walk or so).

I have already mentioned our visit to friends, family and colleagues and some of them are keen to book a break away with you! I shall definitely bare you in mind for future stays too!

Room Tip: iff possible, avoid room 228 - radiator sounds like a pneumatic drill!

Great that you enjoyed your Spa Break and I am sorry that the pool was out of order. This was not planned but unfortunately reactive maintenance.

We have a great team in the Spa and have forwarded your very kind comments

Set in large well kept grounds this is a quintessential old Scottish Hotel. Good sized room with 4 poster (firm) and good sized white bathroom. Be aware the water is tinged red/orange probably from the iron deposits. Furniture is either classic or old depending on your taste!
Was part of a conference and so had a set evening menu. Chicken supreme was a bit over cooked and sauce could have been hotter but by and large okay. breakfast was in the main restaurant and was a wide range maybe local produce but sausages tasted of little which was a disappointment.
If I'd been paying it would have got three stars but the conference facilities were large and good. Glad to read refurbishment underway... Keeping up a building like that cannot be easy.

We enjoy Pitlochry and thought we would try the Atholl Palace for easter weekend. Lovely peaceful location, as long as you don't mind the uphill walk back from the town. Thought the staff were lovely and the food superb. The rooms were what we expected, clean and a few minor areas needing updating.

No entertainment in the evening and there really wasn't enough seating for everyone as the Stagshead bar was closed.

We stayed in the lodges in May 2013 for three nights with another couple and our 3 month old daughter. The lodges are a short walk from the main hotel and have easy access to the grounds and facilities. Went for a swim in the pool which was alright. The bar is nice. Located close to Pitlochry and just a short walk which was good. Accommodation was nice, it was very spacious with modern amenities. The view is ok. Overall a good stay.

We stayed for four nights over Easter and loved every moment. Firstly, the location is great for even the most lightweight of walkers, with a five minute stroll to Pitlochry town, after leaving the glorious gardens. We enjoyed relaxing dinners and breakfasts overlooking fabulous views of Scottish countryside, with very friendly staff in attendance. The seating is very well managed and organised. As another reviewer mentioned, we were not asked about our enjoyment of each course, however, everything was great anyway, and the staff were ever present if you had a problem. This is probably the one thing they might want to address though. The restaurant is a lovely space, with meals presented well and good value. For its' size, the hotel manages to retain an old-fashioned charm and intimacy that is quite surprising. We enjoyed visiting the museum, depicting the history of the hotel. The Festival Theatre and gardens are handily within walking distance.

Room Tip: We stayed in a wonderful turret room, which was very spacious. The bedroom and bathroom were on the...

What a lovely review which will make me very happy to share with the team. The property and grounds are stunning and do possess a timeless magical quality that I have never experienced in my long career in the industry.

Thank you once again

I thoroughly recommend a stay at Atholl Palace Hotel for many reasons. Firstly, the grounds are stunning and the spacious rooms that overlook the gardens make one feel like a wee princess. These rooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. As for the staff, you couldn't ask for better service. One girl in particular was incredibly helpful. Her name is Kristie..(not sure if that's the correct spelling.)

The only thing wrong with our stay there was that it was too short so we are going back and staying a lot longer next time.

When we were there, there was a lot of renovations being done but you hardly noticed this as everything else was spot on.

Could not recommend this place highly enough.

Thanks again for making our stay amazing folk. We will be back

Room Tip: I would imagine all rooms have magnificent views
